Welcome from a newb myself. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do. This forum and reading black library books has kept my derailed vision of my hobby alive until I can get my shop in order. Soon I hope. I only need about another 200$ in paint and a bench made and I can get moving again. 😸

Greetings

Old man trying to rekindle and old interest basically. Started back in the 80s with Fantasy/Chaos, dropped out then came back just to build and paint Empire stuff in the early 00s. My kids have just picked up the hobby (40k I'm afraid) so I've got an excuse to join in, and I'm slowly trying to work out how to fit into AoS...

I work in oil and gas in the middle east atm, so I'm away for four weeks then home for four (usually), which is good and bad, but hopefully I can get to my nearest GW for a game or two when I'm around - been in recently with the kids and they seem a decent sort.

Cheers

Haha, kids and newcomers always go the 40k route like a moth to a flame. :-P

Welcome back to the hobby, friend! I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have about AoS or the hobby in general. (And what I don't know I can easily find a ton of players who will.)

Looking forward to your future posts and hope you and your kids the best of time with the hobby. :smile2:

Cheers ears, but bear in mind I have absolutely no problem with looking an idiot, so my questions will be basic... Will probably post one or two later in the AoS bit if I can't find what I need with my appalling search abilities

To be fair on the kids, the youngest wanted to go AoS, but their school club is 40k only  :-(

Haha, no such thing as a dumb question. Happy to help with anything you need. :smile2:

Pity about the school club. But hey, at least he's got a club! That's better than just being the few friends who meet up at lunch and maybe after school if they get lucky with their schedules.

Aye, tis are true words. It's so hard to organise a game nowadays. People are either busy, sick or lazy (no kids in our group yet). :biggriin:

Welcome!  I understand the hardships in getting a game in!  It's been about 4 years her but the count down is on and this forum keeps the dream alive!   A great place for your interest.

Thanks all.

So where is the best place to ask basic AoS questions?

Feel free to post anything AoS related on the Age of Sigmar discussion page.  :smile2:

http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php/board,64.0.html

Little advice in case you didn't know, the AoS app has free download rule faqs in it's "Gaming Aids" section which can be found under the Book section. Could be helpful with certain ruling questions you have. :-)

Also, very nice Darknight quote. :-D  Reminds me of this Facebook post:

Warm greetings and good tidings honourable Herren and Damen of the Warhammer Empire community! *doffs cap with a courteous bow*

At the time of writing this I’m a 27 year old engineer-in-training who hails from the windswept slopes of Southern England.

I have been engaged with the tabletop wargaming hobby for over 20 years and have been working with ‘The Empire’ range for Warhammer Fantasy Battles for the past 8 years. I cannot put a number on how many hobby orientated projects I’ve worked on over the years, however I can assure you that my love for the hobby remains as strong as the day I first laid my hands on a pair of clippers and a paint brush!

My initial introduction to the Empire of Man was through the ‘Shadows of the Horned Rat’ and ‘Dark Omen’ games during the 90’s. This was later cemented with the Warhammer Armies publications and tabletop skirmish game Mordheim, a familiar trend to find from other members of this online forum. What started as a humble warband of Reikland adventurers comprising of x11 figures has expanded over the years as a 2,500pts Averland army. Now after a year long hiatus from the Warhammer Fanatasy scene I am daring to tread into the game’s latest incarnation Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and take up the reins of command once again.

My interest in the Games Workshop miniatures ranges does of course expand into other armies for both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k which I will now briefly touch on.

  WARHAMMER FANTASY
- Bretonnians: 2,000pts mounted army based on the Dukedom of Montfort.
- Dark Elves: 2,000pts Black Ark Slavers, plenty of Corsairs and Dark Riders shenanigans.
- Daemons of Chaos: 3,000pts Chaos Pantheon Host, let the denizens of Gods tear forth into reality!
- Skaven: 3,000pts Clan Vrrtkin Horde, what’s not to like about chemical warfare and ratmen?
- Vampire Counts: 2,000pts Von Carnstein Bloodline army, there are plenty of bats in my belfry.
- Warriors of Chaos: 2,500pts Warband of Nurgle, spreading the Great Grandfather’s love one plague at a time.

  WARHAMMER: 30K & 40K
- Adeptus Mechanicus: 2,000pts Skitarii/Cult hybrid Cohort, crusading for the glory of the Omnissiah!
- Dark Eldar: 2,000pts Kabal/Wych Cult Raiders, a morbid carnival of splinter shards and poisoned weapons.
- Imperial Guard, 2,500pts Cadian Mechanised Brigade, ready the next salvo and send in the tanks!
- Necrons: 2,000pts Sautakh Dynasty, the ancient phalanxes of the Necrontyr rise again to reclaim the galaxy.
- Salamanders (30k), 3,000pts of Horus Heresy era Mechanised Pyromania!
- Tyranids, 2,500pts Hivefleet Leviathan, so many space bugs so little insect repellent.
- Word Bearers (40k): 2,000pts of Lorgar’s Faithful, Jehovah’s Witnesses from the Eye of Terror!

To say that I’m a fresh face to this forum is not entirely true. Like many fellow forum members, I’ve perused about various forum threads for years as a humble voyeur to find answers to gaming queries and inspiration for hobbying. From what I’ve seen the folks here are very supportive to new and veteran players of our engrossing hobby and I hope to contribute to the many forum discussions with my insight as an avid wargamer and keen hobbyist. I look forward to getting involved with the WE community and joining in the friendly banter and discussions.

Hello all,
I am a young English fella and have been playing Empire, with my Averland force, for a year this month.
I have also started a secondary army, of Bretonnians, using older 5th edition models, which I like more.
My friend has a blog, that we co edit. It has from Warhammer to WWI, with lots of historical battle reports as well as the our resent "Averland war of secession", where my Leitdorf led army fought for the throne of Averland. http://warformiddleearth.blogspot.co.uk/
I am a keen artist and love to draw events from my warhammer battles, and bring them to life.

I hope to upload some photos of my army, if anyone is interested.

All the best
Baron of Averland

Good morrow, young apprentice and well met, my lord Averland

Good to see both of you here, especially from what you said in your introductory posts. Would love to see some of your battle illustrations, my lord Averland, and please, master apprentice, join in the discussions as soon as you like. (Maybe avoid the back table until you're feeling strong.)
To see some of my stuff with the pictures re-included go to http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/ and to see my slowly growing website/blog which will have a lot of stuff in eventually, see www.bigsmallworlds.com

Vielen Dank for the warm welcomes Zygmund, Padre, Artobans Ghost and Xathrodox86!  I intend to be a regular contributor to the Warhammer-Empire community and become fully absorbed into the Old World and Mortal Realms once more. I’m eager to get involved with other member’s project discussions and sharing my experiences as a keen hobbyist and tabletop gamer.

Until then I would like to familiarise myself with the forum’s layout and hope to have the pleasure of conversing with you all again very soon!

*chuckles* Indeed you are quite right Artobans Ghost, my 22 years in our hobby has turned my hand to work on a whole host of varied projects from both the Fantasy Battles and 40k miniature ranges. Some collections have lasted longer than others however I have been loving every moment from the painting station to the competitive tabletop!

Hello sons of the Empire,

I'm MagnanXXIII, Administrator of "Le Conseil Imperial" the imperial french forum.
I play Warhammer since 2010 and my first army was the Empire but today I have 4 armies: Empire (of course), Bretonnia, Dwarfs and Chaos.

My imperial force is a coalition army of 3 cities : Talabheim, Altdorf and Middenheim.
Today I often play at the 9th Age and sometimes at Age of Sigmar but always in the Old World.

Something else : My English isn't perfect but I can speak Reikspiel if you want  :biggriin:
And, we have more imperial smilies on the french forum like this :

But we don't have this :  :x :-P

Hello to all of you!

After following this forum for a long while I have decided to join this international community. I am from Spain and I started playing warhammer like fourteen years ago. Today I own two armies: a big Empire army with a mix of provinces (mainly Middenheim and Talabecland) and dwarfs (first stages).

This game has brought me good moments and friends in the places I have lived. Today it is difficult to find someone to play but to my shame, I must admit I have never finished painting my collection yet, which has never stopped growing on the other hand.

One of the reasons of joining this community is to share with you what I have done till the moment, so I have pressure to finish off everything before new year. I must tell you that some of your galleries were a pleasure to see, and have inspired me to finish my forces.

May Sigmar provide me with strength and discipline!

Welcome Mckharu!
Never been to Spain but I was apprenticed with my plastering and tape & joint by a Spanish tradesman. Best taper I've ever known. Barely had to sand anything when he was done. Has nothing to do with this forum but what the heck.
Look forward to your contributions.
