A couple of years ago I printed out pictures of some Warhammer buildings from GW's web pages, all by Citadel scenery guru Dave Andrews. They all struck me as well executed and evocative, so I thought I'd try and do my own version of the one building which I thought I could build without making a mess of things.
The project ran on and off for about a year (i.e. it saw lots of shelf time) but recently I finished the structure from foam card, balsa wood, paper and plastic sheets, and what now remains is the paint job, weathering and basing.
The finished building before and after its basecoat:

First run with the airbrush:

Second run + drybrushing:

Wish I'd had textured paint on the walls, but unfortunately that proved hard to get hold of. So they came off as a bit too smooth in my opinion; not sure how to correct that apart from careful weathering.

Wide shot of the house after it had the side timbers (?) on the roof added, and then after fixing another reinforcement ring on the wooden tower.

How it looks on a basic battlefield:

Now all that remains is an imperial flag on the flag pole, and all will be well! Some people have commented on how I figured the wall sections would fit into the gatehouse, but the standalone nature of the piece defeats its tactical use. Which means I didn't think about it. Whimsical Warhammer, eh?
