2000 Points.
« on: February 28, 2007, 05:44:57 PM »
It is really interesting to me that after 2 months of tooling, many thoughts and considerstions, dozenes of lists, my army looks suprizingly the same.
The goal of this army is to have something to do in every phase of the game.  Enough magic to make them caustious, enough shooting to make them come towords me, and a strong enough regiment group to win combats when they happen.

An Archlector...  Well who is suprized?  To be delpoyed with the infarntry.  The one thing in my army that might be able to standup to tooled out characters.  The 1+ rerollable armor save will help when not in challenges.  I decided to not to take the war alter after much consideration.  I found that the character just cost to much.  Even if you take the armor of metoric Iron and a great weapon your looking at 260+.  If this is a mistake I am willing to reconsider, but than where do I save the points?

To be deployed with the knights to help with the rubber lance sindrom.  While the unit doesn't become a true hammer, it does get alot closer.

Level 2 to add to the magic phase.  Diespell scrolls well beacuse 7 dice is enough most of the time...  But sometimes you roll low and really need to stop the spell.

The offensive part of my magic phase.  Will probably de deployed with the pistoliers to go forward and cause some havoc.

I like this idea, and use a AL quite like this myself. I do, however, put him in a Waralter, but as you say, he is quite cheaper this way. I think he will do well, but you really need to use a prayer for that useful 4+ wardsave

Ok, but have you payed twice for his shield? Maybe some magic weapon could be the way to go, even that biting blade would prove helpfull

Could not have agreed more. If your oponent goes magicheavy, this guy would be your friend.

Well, do you need him. With 3 prayers and 4 PD I think you will have an acceptable magicphase even without him.... and thats 150 points saved...

These are a nice, solid center. I think they will perform well

Good idea. I really like this, cause then your prayers will make your opponent use DD from turn one. Kill one Wizard or BSB and the hochlands have made there point back many times. As you go with the challenge setup on the AL, killing champions could be even as useful, then leave the characters wide open for the AL to pick.

Allways usefull. Another way may be to go with one cannon and one hellblaster. I am testing that for the moment. The hellblaster can deal with monsters and similar stuff as good as a cannon, and it frees a special choice. Then you could have changed one of the handgunners units to outriders, given you as many shots and BS5 on the hochland. Just a thought...

Yes, I think they should. They can break some units with a frontal charge, but put them in the side and they break everyting but the hardest infantry. At least with the WP joining them.

Generally a good list, but the lack of cav troubles me a bit. I am afraid you will have to respond to the enemys movment a lot, and that could be a problem. a 5 knights nilla unit or some DOW fast cav at 50 point each (60 if you add spears) could help you on the movement side. However, then you have to leave some handgunners or your second wizard at home. I would have done it easy, but it depend on your style of play. Do you perfere playing a more static or a more dynamic army??

For points calculation:
Warrior priest should be 136, you can add GW or biting blade to his equipment.
Wizards should be 160 pts each.

Army is nice, I prefer crossbows because their longer range forces wider range of
opponents to close (love firing at those thunderers), but if you plan to use prayers,
then HLR are nice addition. I am also not sure about the second wizard, but it is according to taste.
Personally also love at least one unit of nillas, but you can live without them.
