I need your opinion but please don't be too harsh on me
And note the bad quality of the photos :icon_mrgreen:

First of all, I see some mould lines. Make sure you remove them before painting, it adds a LOT of realism. You also need to thin your paints, and make sure you cover everything - you might need to apply a few layers, especially to the purple.

That said, it's not bad, no mistakes to be found apart from a dot of purple on his wrist, and I like the old look of the metal, though the paint is a bit grainy. Keep us updated!

If you apply two of those giant feathers to his hat, he might look a bit like a badass empire version of the easter bunny...  :icon_lol:

Yeah i always try and remove all the mould lines but some get away with it
And about the thinning of the paints:it is the undercoat actually
I suck at spraying so he had a huge layer of chaos black to begin with :icon_biggrin:
Thank you both for the comments

Mhm, about the thickness: maybe, but it looks like it's also the top layer. When spraying, do at room temp, with little humidity and about a foot away from your models. I prefer to spary in bursts too, instead of one long go.

I like the paintjob, and Ostermark :) How did you do your purple? Just liche, or some secret mix?

I tried a mix of warlock purple with a little bit of chaos black but instead of a red-purple (which is Ostermark's colour) i got a blue-purple
So I simply applied warlock purple over the model and it was great on its own. Then I made some minor highlights and used a small amount of black ink on the lines of the cloth. To finish i added a few washes of baal red

I think the unit will look sharp with the color scheme. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the super plume--i was debating whether to use on my new unit of great swords but think I'll forgo for now.

Definetely a rare case of where bigger isn't better. :-P

Good basic paint job though.  Maybe a bit too much purple though, plus Im not a fan of the purple hat and yellow feather.  I've always been a fan of black or brown hats (and any leather accessories for that matter).

the pics aren't horrible to be honest.  The eye of the camera is unforgiving, that's for sure.  Use your pics as a reference for improvements.  One thing is for certain, you need to use the purple wash from GW on this shade, not black.  It's too much of a crontrast.  some blending of metallics would really enhance this armour as would some highlights to the purple cloth.  You said you did, but I think they are too minor since I can't see them.  I haven't really painted alot of purple on my figures, but I usually just start with liche purple, purple wash, leviathan purple highlights, super thin, glaze with the purple wash to blend in more, and straight highlight with leviathan purple in a more refined area and less than I did before.... That's just me though!  He looks good man, and with a few improvements, he'll be ace!
