I rather like the model.  and that's a great paint job.  I expect I'll be getting round to painting him myself in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the comments guys.  The only knock I have on the model is the fact that the horse is acting like Ludwig is reefing on the reins, yet his hands are conspicuously busy...

I am actually going to be selling this model to a kind gentleman (he just bought my Stank for $100).  Hopefull for $75, since I think its a good paint job and I will have to buy the model and paint it again...

This is Ludwig we are talking about, he uses his beard to control the reigns!

Is this really true or do my eyes deceive me? Philly posting once again in the B&P...

It really is a crime you don't post here more often when the level of your painting is that high you know. The banner especially is killer!

I mostly stay away from here because I have a totally crappy dial up account.  Pictures make my PC crazy...

Why did they have to put that robot baby on the model? And holding up the banner so you can't get rid of him!

You have made him look really good, nevertheless, as I already said. But still: robot baby!

This cupid doesn't have any visible gears.   I prefer to think of it as a familiar summoned by a wizard to carry the massive banner.  Thus the vacant, creepy eyes...  :icon_eek:

The robot one from the general box on the other hand is just dumb.  Its little wings would never carry it anywhere!

It's a cherub, not a robo-baby, like on the general's sprue.  I have always felt that the cherub was a bad choice for this model.  Cherubs are fine for 40k, but for fantasy it's a bit more than most people are willing to swallow.  A removable cherub would have been nice (esp for 40k players), but Ludwigs banner would be difficult to adapt to a 40k piece.

Of course, there's always the option of the OLD Ludwig model... the one with the do it yourself banner (he just came with the banner pole).  My local game store still has a few of them in the blister packs.  :icon_eek:
Desperately seeking Chaos Warrior heads & Skull banner tops from new empire missle troops sprue.  Will trade for bitz, barter, or $$$.  PM or email me to discuss details.

Nicely painted Ludwig you got there. Makes me want to buy that model for BSB captain, allthought I don't like that flying baby thing. I will enjoy chopping it off

Not a robot? I am misinformed.

The 'cherub' does fit in with the general appearance of the model, in that it looks like a romanticised painting of Ludwig rather than a true representation of him. Like the third version of Valten, he'd make a good statue. He just looks very odd next to more normal miniatures.

Actually the one on the general's sprue is the robo-clockwork cherub, complete with skull face.

You know... thats an astute observation.  He really DOES look like a statue!

Great job Philly and 75bucks? Wooo you're making money off him as well!!!

I have to say this is one of the worst Empire models for me... personal taste wise. I just find him ridiculous.

So, in other words, it's the Terminator's great-great-great-great-great grandfather as a baby?  :-D

Impressive.

I really love the horse. I suck at doing horses so when I see a good one I get blown away.

Nice work on the yellow as well.
The greatest form of control which can go on forever until it is exposed is a tyranny you can't see, touch and taste (unlike totalitarian Govts). When you sit in a prison cell but can't see the bars, because people don't rebel against not being free when they think they're are.
