Thanks for the compliments!
I have noticed the same problem with the thick paint but have been unable to alleviate it much. i find that i am always straddling the line between to thick and too watery. i began mixing paints for a death wizard i have done but find the same problem recurring. I think it might be the paints I use (they are getting on in age) combined with my painting style. I heard Vallejo paints work better for mixing because of the dropper system. any thoughts?
They do (Vallejo paints), but not so much that that makes them an obvious choice over other paints. It helps, but it's not too hard to take an empty pallet and dip your brush in the paint pot and let it drip off the brush onto the pallet. Now, I prefer Vallejo a whole lot over GW paint because I find it is, straight out of the container, thinner and easier to spread, it dries faster (which can or cannot be a good thing, but I prefer it), I like the dripper bottles better, and I prefer the colors overall.
Now, I must say, I love your style (which seems simplistic really), of a kinda dirt look to the uniforms, and figures in general. And really, the paint only seems noticably thicker on the banners, which is a common thing for someone who hasn't done a lot of free hand painting (my first banners were the exact same way). All you need to do now is base them!
