Finished up my first demigryph, which for now I plan to use as my BSB in a unit of state troops.




Lord von Steinwacht has made it a special focus to build out his menagerie, trading with Reikland to get all manner of beasts. The Steinwacht menagerie is managed by its beastmaster, Wilmar Jaegerhof. Hoping to make a model of Wilmar to use as a captain on foot -- I'm trying to find a nice whip for him to wield if anyone has any recommendations.

Also finished up my helblaster. Imported directly from Nuln, it is the pride of The Steinwacht Powderworks. 




My first time using a matte varnish on the helblaster, I don't think I shook it quite enough as it came out a little shiny. I also plan to brighten up the metal a little bit, The Powderworks would keep their guns cleaner!

Well done on the Helblaster! I just finished mine, it definitely needs a coat of varnish or else the paint will wear off.

Slowly but surely I'm making progress on painting my pile of shame (though I think it's actually increased over the last 12 months). With these last models, I have a fully painted 1500 point army, and then some.

First up, a couple priests of Ulric from Steinwacht, which I have themed as the main religion in the town. And, Klaus, Jr. Engineer of the The Steinwacht Powderworks. (Jr. Engineer because I'm using a handgunner champion model for an Engineer).





And then, a unit of 5 outriders w/ champion:




While I was finishing these up, I built my General of the Empire on a Griffon, which I'll be painting next followed by a steam tank, which should round out a basic 2000 point army.

I have ~2500 points of chorfs from the late 90's that's only half painted. With the other half needing a repaint/touching up... my Earthshaker is painted with glossy Testor's paints by 12 year old me.

After I get a solid core of Empire painted, then paint my Orc and Goblin army (themed around a black orc boss with a unit of black orcs, who are in charge of an unruly mob of nightgoblins, squigs, and giants), I plan to go back and finish that army... before going back and maybe painting the 100+ Empire models (including 50 handgunners) I have that I won't paint anytime soon.

Also, what a genius idea using the box art as background for your photos of your minis. I need to go redo all mine now!

I wasn't sure about the use of the fortified manor as a backdrop, but the hills box backdrop is amazing. Very cool. Lovely figures, and red&yellow just works so nicely.

Got some big pieces of my army done over the past 3 months. I now have enough painted to comfortably field a 2250 point force.

First up I have one of the new Elementalist models. I have mixed feelings about the sculpt, but I love the idea, especially in The Old World setting, of some hermit mage that lives in the woods outside of Steinwacht. So here is Wald Mooswinkel, Hermit Mage



Next we have Karl von Steinwacht riding the pride of the Steinwacht menagerie, Stormclaw! A model too big for my jury rigged photo setup.





The rider sits unglued in the saddle, and I have the mage I can slide in if I want to switch it up.

And lastly, my steam tank. A model I refused to run for years (decades?) because I thought it was stupid to bring one of 8 steam tanks to a 2000 point battle. But man have I enjoyed playing with it since I painted it up. How does a small trading town in Talabecland have a Steam Tank? That's a story for another day.

I also really enjoyed painting this model, great to paint something very unique for a change.

On a related note, I just completed my first ever tournament - a doubles tournament with one of my brothers. Also the first time I played against someone who wasn't one of my brothers since I was about 12 (I'm 41). No allies restrictions, 1500 points each, he took his High Elves. We came in 12 of 16 -- better than I expected.

But the main point is, I finally got a couple pictures of my painted army all together.
