Vampires in kislev?
« on: November 25, 2005, 04:38:48 AM »
my friend was telling me about a post on the VC forum asking what the next vampire family is, the favourite seemed to be "chaos vampire"   based on the clue the family headed north (the one they didnt include in the book)before settling.
How likely do u think it is the vampires may be from Kislev?i think that would be cool... 8)

I really don't think they are going to add a new bloodline in the next edition.  I mean look at the bloodlines they have.  They have Uber Combat being blood dragons, they have Uber Magic Necrarchs, they have tough monsters of the night strigoi, they have the alluring vampire in lahmia and they have your base line dracula in Von Carstein.  I don't think they are missing any vampires of any kind in the generalized branching they put them in.

The VC book itself has a Kislev-set story...so yes, likely.

Some times ago there was rumors about nipon/khitai kind of vampire (simply ninja).
I guess that transformed into Clan Eshin Master Assassin.

But von Carlsteins should be linked to Kislev. At least from fluff...

The current vampire bloodlines are all decendants from one sort of arch vampire. E.G All Von Carstein Vampires are the descendants from one , the first Von Carstein Vampire.

There is no proper way to create a new bloodline. Unless they create a lame story.

i agree that the story may be lame, and they already have everything they need, but the interview was with the VC designer(forgot his name sorry) and he listed these ideas which included the strigoi. The article went on to state there was one idea for a bloodline they had not listed because they were going to use it in the next edition!go figure.....
Looks like they may be "army creeping"...

My guess for the backstory to a new vampire bloodline would be a bloodline nearly hunted into extinction by one of the other lines that went into hiding in Kislev or Nipon and has finally returned likely due to some special character being really awesome and leading his fallen brethren back to the Empire or just the general area of the Old World. I'd rather see some Vampires from Cathay or Nippon with cool ninjaesque powers or even limited teleporting. Some kind of uber-stealth vamp as the fighter and mages are covered rather thuroughly. Just my 2 cents.

The VC armybook says that the Master Vampires fled to the Old World, there were 9 or so of them if I recall. A few died, one fled to the chaos wastes (!) and the rest made the bloodlines as we know now.

Kuen-jin those are the asian vampires.  Now don't jump down my throat on spelling because it's crazy asian and I am not exactly sure.  But they drink Chi.  Plus if they brought them in there would almost have to be a Cathayan army.  Plus they are hopping vampires they have to hop to get places.  Isn't that cool this is a vampire a fat 40 year old D&D player could outrun on a bad day.  Only way this thing could catch anyone is if they stopped to laugh because than you wouldn't stop laughing.

Where did you get that from?

And yes, a Japanese name for a Chinese piece of mythology, typical.

Not really appropriate. I doubt you meant it to be offensive, but seriously that’s not acceptable at all.

@ CountRommel, Like I said, I really didn't think that it was meant to be offensive, but it's the sort of thing that someone could take the wrong way. In retrospect, I probably should have phrased it more as a reminder than a reprimand. Sorry if I came off too harsh.

Anyways, back to your regular scheduled vampire talk.... :-D

Well see what I am saying is I think any normal clan or bloodline would be okay in Kislev.  Now what would be cool is a Von Carstein Vamp up there impersonating an ambassador of the empire and screwing up the alliance.  That would be awesome.

I read a story somewhere about a vampire woman killing a Kislev Boyar and his camp.  I dont know where I read it, it might be in the vampire book but I dont think so.

edit: thats the one Hal, thanks.  I never read the book though so it was probably on the website.  If they put it one the website then that may be a good hint.

I do believe that it is near the start of the VC book.

Yeah but what I was thinking more like in the city of Kislev or Praag Count Something Von Carstein ambassador to kislev.  Subtley he does things to screw over empire kislev relations.

Vampires are cool. Enough said. However, most of your generic ideas can be covered by von carsteins, as they are all humanesque with ni particular abilities. If you bring out a new bloodline (2 slots left if anyones counting!), then they would have to have weird stealth powers (alessio did mention invisible vamps and said he hadnt mentioned the one they may use, so thats a shame), or some such uniqueness that the rest do. However, is Luthor Harkon a new breed of vampire? Or maybe an elvish vampire (wouldnt make sense fluffwise, but GW care so little for fluff nowadays!). Or skaven vamp - "I come to suck your blood, yiss yiss manthing!"

If they did a stealth vampire they should make them like the Al'Qassim bloodline or something like that.

The Al'Qassim were the silent killers of the night of Lahmia.  Where Aborash was law Al'Qassim was the silent knife of the aristocracy of the night.  He would bring about the unlawful executions of enemies.  He was rightly hated by Aborash and his warriors.  When the time of the fall of Lahmia came the Al'Qassim scattered but kept a in touch creating a network through the civilizations of the old world.  This was to be known as the Cult of the Shrouded Knife.  Assassin guilds were started and moved with civilizations.  The most promising murderers would be inducted into this honor of vampirism.

Bloodline powers

Obfuscate: If the vampire is on any terrain piece he is invisible unless you are within 2 inches of him.

Night Stalker: The vampire can scout as per the rules for scouting.

Celerity: the vampire has a 4+ ward save and a +1 Movement and Iniative.

Black Blood of Eternal Quiet: The vampires blood is a virulent poison that he uses to coat his weapons he will gain poison attacks but the poison is so virulent it takes effect on a 5+.

Dance of a Thousand Blades: the Vampire multiplies his attacks by the number of opponents in base to base combat.

I don't have any ideas what the bonuses would be but that sounds cool don't it?
