Hello everyone!  Steve "Queek" Houghton, has enlightened us with a new piece of fiction.   You can see it in the library:

glad that you liked it.   :D

the idea latched on, and wouldn't go away until I wrote it down.  If any more such stories invade my head, I'll be sure and write them up!

Any one else, I'd love to hear feedback.  TIA.

thanks rufus.   :)

Some of the "visuals" were the hooks that I built the story around.  The Ungor coming over the wall behind poor Deiter, the old priest having his prayers work for the first time even if the circumstances weren't obvious, the frying pan to the head bouncing off the horns of a Bray.  *bonk*

The Rangers tracking down the WarGor just seemed a great "rescue" hook, a better twist than a relief column or a force of Wood Elves, and the Ranger leader with his "you killed my brother, prepare to die" attitude just worked out well.  *throwing axe to the head*

Very fitting peice of warhammer fiction. I Liked the imagery of the village and its defenders. The priest stood out as the best character IMO. If you decide to write any more I think he would be a character worth developing. The dwarf ranger was excellent also. I find it hard to develop interesting characters in a short piece. Well done!

The sergeant ran forward with his blunderbuss, poked it through a gap in the gate, and fired, sending a rain of scrap and shot thru the packed Beastman before the gate.

Ouchhh!!

Or the Mordheim variant; 16" forward in a 1" broad line.

the blunderbuss was indeed a flame template attack in 5th edition as well.  The War Wagon was the only way to get one on the field, just as the STank varient is the only way to get one in 6th edition.

scary thing is, I went back and did some adding, this would be a ~500 point Skirmish battle at least.   :?   ah well, I had fun writing it, glad folks enjoyed reading it!

Back in good ole 4th it was a 12" box...much like the Ravening Hoard Chaos Dwarf Blunderbuss rules.  I wonder if those will stay as the rules if/when GW releases CD
