2250 List That Needs Some Thoughts...

This is a 2250 list, but with a couple of nasty conditions that I don't like so much.  First, it's for a (as I understand it) pretty much WAAC league/tournament.  I can't speak for players/armies yet, but the winners from the past few years have been Brets and Dwarves.  So I'm expecting the worst.  Second, for League play, the army list is broken into two sections:  1500 points of "must-have," and 750 points of "changeable."  However, nothing in the 1500-point section can be altered (ie, no increasing unit sizes, adding magic items, etc.).  And the Army General must be in the 1500-point section.

So how does the list look, and what would you put into the 750-point section of the list to be changed as needed?

Arch Lector with Heavy Armour, Great Weapon, Barded Warhorse, Shroud of Magnus, and Van Horstman's Speculum
* Goes with Swordsmen

Captain in Full Plate with BSB, Barded Warhorse, and Sword of Sigismund
* Goes in smaller Spearmen block

Captain in Armour of Meteoric Iron with Great Weapon
* Goes in larger Spearmen block

Warrior Priest with Heavy Armour, Great Weapon, Barded Warhorse, and Icon of Magnus
* Goes in Knights with Command

23 Swordsmen with Full Command
* 9 Free Companies
* 5 Archers

23 Spearmen with Full Command and Shields
* 9 Halberdiers
* 5 Archers

24 Spearmen with Full Command and Shields
* 9 Free Companies
* 5 Archers

10 Handgunners

6 Knights with Musician

6 Knights with Full Command

5 Pistoliers with Musician and Outrider with Repeater Pistol

2 Great Cannons

1 Mortar

1 Helblaster Volley Gun

Model Count:  156 Troops (17 Cavalry, 139 Infantry), 4 Officers, 4 War Machines
Power Dice:  2 (but 3 Bound Spells)
Dispel Dice:  5, with 2 Points of Magic Resistance

It's not what I usually field, but I don't care for WAAC and would prefer to keep it as fluffy as possible while still competitive.

Change Sword Of S for Banner of Sigismund. You'll get 8 stubborn.
Drop any unit of infantry for Greatsword with detachment. You'll get second unit with 8 stubborn.
And think about Captasus, ;) and change stuff for Arch Lector. He needs 1+AS.
Give one Knight unit a SteelStandart. Potentional Game winner.
Drop mortar and pistoliers for unit of 6 Outraiders.
And you really need some sort of magic defence. 5 DD not enough.

Perhaps I should address my limits:  No Outriders or War Altar to be had.  No Handgun champions.  No Captasus.  No HRB (yet...).

Thought about this, but do I really need lots of Stubborn?  It's nice, I won't argue, but I'm hoping for more of a Marcus Octavius "outmanuever/destroy their nasties" style of play than a "They hit me, we hold, we break them."  But as above, I don't know what's more competitive in a WAAC environment.

* "Change stuff for Arch Lector" - How?  I barely gave him the Speculum - he's there for magic defense and Leadership, not to beat down enemy characters.  I hope.  I feel like I'm spending too much on him already.
* Not dropping Mortar/Pistoliers...primarily because I don't have Outriders.  But I'm fond of those Pistoliers! (the Mortar only hits when it's aimed at my guys!)
* Can't argue with Magic Defense needs.  But can I afford a fighty character slot for a Wizard with Rod of Power?

For the 750 point changeables the cannons seem like a good spot to start as some armies might not have good targets.  Also a few level 2's to swap in might go well if you know that your opponent doesn't have alot of magic, or alternately for magic defence (and also characters would be easy to swap in if you don't have many units lying around).  Also changing magic items on your non-lord characters would be useful, try swapping in the orb of thunder (inspired by Mr. Carloff) when flyers are expected, or the icon against undead etc...
