Estalia/Tilea models... Well, almost
« on: December 17, 2008, 05:47:59 AM »
Thought I would show these... Coming in January from http://www.theassaultgroup.co.uk/
They will be part of TAG's Italian Wars/Conquistadors' Range

I, for one, am pretty excited over these. They look excellent!

Thats my problem, I keep contemplating a different army (current bets are on WElves), but then I see some more of the historical figs out there and change my mind and stick to Empire.

I can't see the pictures at the moment either.  I went looking on their website, but couldn't find what is being referenced to here.

Regarding doing Empire miniatures and being relatively new to these, I haven't come close to exhausting what I'd like to do with the GW minis, plus they will be coming out with new ones, and I'd like to start collecting some of the historical minis eventually.  I'd like to paint some of the other GW minis, but at the moment I don't have time to do all I'd like with the Empire ones.

I can't see the pics either, but poking around the web page I found these pieces-parts:

Looks like they've got a pretty decent Kislev range, too. ;)

They do look pretty good. My only complaint is that once again, it's another line of figures being produced on the wrong side of the Atlantic.  :-P

I'm not sure I like them?

The heads seem a little large, compared to rather thin bodies?

There certainly seems to be a wide range of helmet shapes though - is that authentic or artistic license?

That's quite normal for 28mm scale. At this scale things will look a bit distorted and they do need to be exaggerated. A perfectly proportioned figure will look unattractive in that scale, like most of 1:72 figures do.

That's authentic. They are reproductions of Spanish-style helmets between 1490 - 1520.

I have a handful of WWII Russians from Assault Group.  They do indeed make their miniatures with heads a little too large when compared with other manufacturers.  The guys I have with out helmets look ok but the ones with helmets stand out too much. They are still excellently detailed miniatures but the large heads have put me off from buying more of them... or at least more of their Russians.

I'd give them at least a 5 on Tom's chart: http://thunderboltmountain.com/serendipity/uploads/Progression.JPG
