Detachments
« on: January 04, 2009, 11:40:13 PM »
So do my detachments have to be 5 models wide to break ranks? or just unit stregnth 5?

could I have 2 ranks of 4 and still break ranks? (I know they dont get rank bonus but I dont think it is illeagal to have them in ranks of four)

Correct.  You only need US 5+ to negate rank bonus and to claim the bonuses for engaging in the flank/rear.  Hence you will see some people field a 3x3 detachment.

Hell Yeah! :biggriin:

This opens up a lot of room for maneuvering and the such, also it makes spear detachments more viable (I dont have to buy 10 of them)

heya
i usually go with 4x3 for "big" 12-man detachemnts, or 3x3 for "normal" sized 9-man detachments.
hope you can use it.
