Thanks - it's Ultramarines Blue on white undercoat (and of course washed with Delvan mud as everything in the army is)

I'm glad I can actually post my entry here now - It's my fist real major conversion so I'm proud

Lots of little alterations to one of the old dragon minis (repositioning hands, wings, tail & a few other things). Karl himself is constructed from the Mounted General OTE (which I cut in half & added the sash around the waist to make him taller) & Empire, Bretonnian, & even Space Wolf bits.

And some painted versions - They always look better painted (you can also see the tail better here)

Steveb - Coming from the Conversion Comp winner,that's a big compliment. Thanks.

On the to-do list includes trying to create 2 plastic griffins (1 for war alter & 1 as a mount) - I'm thinking of using the lions from the High Elf Chariot but am stumped on how to get the eagles

- Anyone know where I can get some good plastic ones?

fbjorn - The head is from the Brettonian Knights kit. I think it gives a really regal look (I really aren't a fan of the feathered head KF mini)

Warlord - yep the new minis are definately better, but you work with what you've got. I scored the dragon in a huge trade I did for Forthelady - I think it turned out pretty good.

Nope my friend - close though.

The pointing arm is actually from the General OTE kit - The lance arm - I trimmed it up to remove all of the lance front & back and the greenstuffed the pointing finger on.
The other arm is the shouldered pistol arm from the same kit - i trimmed of the hand and to a poweraxe from the Space Wolves kit, cut it off at the hand and trimmed the poweraxe head off & attached the hammer head from the General OTE standard.

There are so many little conversions like that in it - Which I like as it really does make it one of a kind.

This army is going so amazingly well!

I wish I could paint horses as well as you, but your biggest achievement is undoubtedly that you got a unit of about fifty (insert oath hear)ing flagellants to rank up!

P.S. I also think that the mixed uniform idea is going well, and a group shot of the painted models would be awesome.

P.P.S I liked the pistoliers the way they were, perched precariously on the sides of their saddles

They rank up now - but I think I might need to put numbers under the bases to remember what order to put them in (it was a little like a jigsaw puzzle

Sweet - all done with the swords men & arch lector:

If you're wondering about his armour - As it is magical armour I thought I'd wash it with a purple look to it (the mace is also magical & has a red wash on it but not really noticeable in the photos)

And their command:

well - that's the last of the minis I had built, so now need to build some more (won't go as crazy as last time!!

Build a little, paint a little works better I think)

And - Here is what is now completed in total (all 3180 pts worth!)

I think the colours are working & the blue really helps to stop the army looking disjointed & just a big rabble.

Got a few minis to buld now & have ordered a whole bunch (4 boxes of militia, Bret Pegasus Knight, Box of Bret knights, 2 x boxes Chaos knights & a whole bunch of bitz). That'll keep me going for a while I think.

PS. for those of you keeping track - I'm just about to finish my second pot of Delvan Mud wash

You have managed to paint such a huge army so fast and so well, congratulations are in order.

And you are right, the blue does anchor the army together and makes it look like an army.

WOW - it's been quite a long time since I was here on the forums (probably 6 months in fact

).
Well, got things sorted so I'm back to it now. First job is to update the links to my pics as they have shifted to a new server and most of them aren't showing

so will do that today.

Have completed (finally) a couple more units which I will photograph and add in the next few days.
