Why were you asking?

Is it because our book seems so underpowered compared to the Deamons and VC?

The book was out before the new wizard and flaggies models.

Also Empire players know we have to fight crazy enemies which is why we're the best generals- right fellas?

I think people who fought and won with 6th ed. Dark Elves are the best generals.

You could make an argument for O&G generals as being the best, but I think that the O&G army moreso controls you rather than the opposite.

In Soviate Russia, O&G plays you!

I find my Ogre army requires more of my skill than my Empire does.

Ah, forgot about those blokes... I only used them once and I completely ran over an empire army with them. I didn't much like their playstyle though.

Of course Ogres do because they're about as fragile as can be. Keep up the Empire support guys.

Thats the first time that I have seen "ogres" and "fragile" in the same sentence.

Really I feel they're fragile, you much up with 1 or 2 moves and your plan lies in tatters and ogres are far less forgiving then many other armies to such tactical mistakes.

They are though.  I often feel like I'm trying to bash a whale to death with a scalple when I play with them.  It is strange because they look like they will blast through anything you point them at.

Ogres -are- fragile.

Toughness 4 and almost no armour save for most of the army?

Dark Elves were not difficult to use in 6th.  They were actually remarkably easy, despite the constant whining of the Druchiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.net crew, but they only had one or two real builds.

Ogres are the perfect example of a failed concept.  GW obvious envisioned a horde of fatties runnign the board, bull charging and chopping the enemy to bits.  They then built in limiting factors to prevent this concept from sweeping too many people straight off the board.

Unfortunately, even if a unit gets into contact with the enemy, they are not generally good enough to sweep 50% of units off.  Add their horrid resilience, complete inability to deal with large flying monsters (other than the Tyrant with a tenderiser - who cannot get in contact with  him!) and the lack of support models you have a list that is broken.  Only as a MSU army does it stand a chance, and even then it stumbles.  Great models though.

I fully agree with you here philly, I use them as an example because not many people found them easy to use.

When don't they whine about stuff over at D.net? They are even doing it even now when they have one of the top 5 books out.

Well they did sort of suck when just picking up and playing unless you approached it right, but their good builds were quite good.

Good point.  They are the portrait of whining and my least favorite Warhammer forum on the net.

Is there a warhammer related forum that doesn't whine about their army?

Tomb Kings.

Their forum is dead.

Daemons.

Their forum is filled with omnipotent cackling.

That's about it.

Yes. By this I am saying VAMPIRE COUNTS WHINE ABOUT THEIR BOOK. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Fair enough Soth. Hopefully if I work something out I might be at this years Euro bash, if that's the one you mean.

Mainly I see the argument that their book is weak because if their general dies, they auto lose without any dice rolling whatsoever.

Or something.

I always assumed you had a long flowing beard and hair

I think what GW tried with the ogres was good, didnt work but at least it wasnt like the VC or daemons. They came out with an army that was completely differnt then every army out in the range, and gave it really cool models and interesting fluff. Give them a couple of editions and they could be a very cool army that makes you rethink the game from a tactics perspective

Your wife's cooking makes you taller? thats some good stuff.

And about D.net:
They are a huge pit of whining.... I was there for about 2 weeks and couldn't handle it. They are definatley worse than most forums.
