War altar
« on: February 26, 2010, 01:23:27 PM »
I bought the Arch lector on war altar model..and its so ugly  :eusa_wall:

So I'm thinking about getting another model and converting it, but here's the problem..I don't know what model to use. I've been sniffing around on the screaming bell (as I bought my GF one for her birthday) and I think it would look pretty cool. I've also been thinking about HE chariot or perhaps even a Tomb King one, even tho the TK one looks pretty unstable and not as solid as I want it I still like the model.
I know people been using the corpse cart as a altar, but I don't feel it would fit my army that well.

Any help for a poor General without a arch lector? What model could with a little green stuff and a lot of patient pass off as a altar? I'm not thinking about scratch building one tho.

search through the B&P for war altars theres a great thread with about 20-30 of the things.
The greatest form of control which can go on forever until it is exposed is a tyranny you can't see, touch and taste (unlike totalitarian Govts). When you sit in a prison cell but can't see the bars, because people don't rebel against not being free when they think they're are.

also the actual waltar, if you take away the horrible theogonist and golden griffon, makes a reasonable base for a conversion.

yea but now days you take it for it's "classic" appeal more then it's aesthetics.

Once it's painted up nicely I think it's actually a pretty cool model. I really like mine

What do you think the odds are that we'll actually see a new plastic war altar?

I bought the skaven doom bell, and with a couple fanatic sprues and greenstuff I made a monster of the altar on the battlefield. I highly recommend the doombell for conversion.

The doom wheel or screaming bell? Or is a terrifying mix of them both? :D

I've looked in the "show us your walters" thread, and I'm not sure how to do. Easiest would be to buy a HE chariot, greenstuff it and use random bits to make it look better. The question is tho, is the chariot as sturdy and strong like a War alter? Deep inside my head I think it looks a little bit thin.

I think the odds of it being removed from the Empire list altogether (aside from Volkmar) would be a lot higher. The thing is grossly over-powered and over-used.  I can see the War Altar going back to Volkmar, where it belongs, pretty easily.

I disagree.

If its over-used and there's no current model, that's a huge opportunity for GW to cash in.
Make the kit as nice as the Steam Tank or the Plague Furnace and it would fly off the shelves.

I actually bought the resin components from Forge World to convert a Falcon-- and then when the plastic Waveserpant came out, I bought that too.  So yeah, I think GW would revamp the WAltar rules before axing it because if they do come out with a plastic model, it will be a top seller.
