Bookmarking Threads - Is this possible?
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:14:43 PM »
I have noted that it is possible to set a thread to notify, but I have never been able to find an option to bookmark a thread, so that I can access it easily when I want to, but I am not notified if it receives new replies.

If there is some way to do this that I have overlooked, would somebody be able to explain it to me?

If, however, it is not possible, could this feature be enabled?  It is particularly useful in my experience, especially if you don't enjoy having your e-mail system clogged up by notifications, or for keeping track of useful old threads.

For the time being I would recommend doing this also, make a bookmark folder called Warhammer-Empire and then just put your bookmarks there.

I suppose it might be a good idea to have this as a built-in feature though, perhaps for those that use multiple computers. I will look into that.

It would help me, because I use three different computers.

It's a feature which is enabled on other SMF forums I am a member of, so if it's not a major inconvenience to enable it, I would be grateful :).

Edit: On a somewhat related note, and to save starting a new thread, I'm pretty sure that the stats page is not supposed to look like this when browsing with Firefox:

Any thoughts about why this is happening?

Installed a bookmark mod.

And no... it's not supposed to look like that...  :icon_confused:

That's weird. My guess is something happened to the template file during the upgrade. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Installed a bookmark mod.

Thank you.

Will it be available as an option for each thread with all the other tabs (i.e. mark read, notify etc)?

That's a relief.  I was worried that I had done something very strange to my settings on this forum!

Yes you should be able to see it now, just next to "reply".

I'm afraid I cannot see it.  'Reply' is followed by 'notify' as usual.

Add Poll would be a Mod only option, and as I can see the Bookmark button I guess it is set as an Admin only thing.

That may be because Calvin implemented it that way without realising it.

Bookmarks should now be available to all.

When I first installed it I didn't realize that it required setting up permissions also.

I've still only got the 'notify' option.  Does this have anything to do with my Campaign Team status?

I can see it.  Thank you Calvin :icon_biggrin:.

If 'Campaign Team' is a separate grouping to normal users and moderators and administrators, which I assume it is, then my guess would be it would have to enabled separately for that group, so I suspect that this is the problem.

Sorry for posting in such an old topic, but I really wanted to say that this is an awesome addition to the forum! Kudos!
Personally I haven't used webbrowser bookmarks for ages. It lacks search functions, you always end up forgetting to backup them some time and yeah, using multiple computers just doesn't make it work practically.
