Alight.

A level two Wizard is allowed to throw how many power dice per spell?

The example in the new BRB on page 33 shows a level one rolling four dice.

I thought a level 2 could use two power dice, and the Wizard's Staff would allow him to use three dice total.

Could one of you generals clear this up for me?

Thanks in advance.

That is 7th edition. (It was actually his level +1 power dice he could use)

In 8th edition any wizard can use up to 6 dice to cast a spell. He adds his level to the result. I don't remember what the wizards staff does as I don't use it, but I thought it gave a +1 to the casting roll. So it would be 6 dice with a +3 to the casting roll for your level 2 wizard, if I'm remembering the rule for the staff correctly.

In 7th, you could throw 1 dice more than your level -- so level 2 could throw 3 dice.

Don't think there is a limit based on level now - you just can't throw more than 6 dice total per cast. (correct me if I'm wrong -- been running mostly warrior priests so far)

Wizard staff allowed you to roll 1 dice more than your level normally permitted -- dunno how it's changed in 8th.

Wiz staff allows you roll 7 PD.
Odo drops the bombs and laughs at all the clucking.

......, it would really help if you did research before spouting your opinion...

So there you have it then, one more dice than normal and not +1 to the casting roll.

Which gives your level 2 a seriously good chance of getting something off, and then blowing themselves to hell.

Gotta love it.

The item is now worthless, and will be changed in the new book.
