Dangerous terrain...?
« on: November 06, 2010, 05:47:06 PM »
So I have a noob question. My gaming group has been getting hung up on dangerous terrain tests lately and since there are two of us who are sharing a BRB I don't have it on hand this weekend so maybe someone here can help me out.

1. Are all marshes dangerous terrain for infantry and monsterous infantry?
2. If I recall correctly I can't march through river, but can I charge through it? Or is it something like - march up to it, move through, march away? ( :eusa_wall:this seems obvious when I read it but I want to be certain)

Any help and you'll be my hero!  :icon_biggrin:

1. Yes at least from what I understand.

2. You march up to it, move through, and once on the other side can march or charge.

But I am not an expert on terrain and its effects, it is one of my weaker points.
If opponent ask you: "What's that crazy orange unit you got there?"

Answer him something like that: "It's Meatgrinder baby. You're the Meat and I'm the Grinder"

Don't know about the marshes, but you can't march through rivers. If you charge then dangerous terrain tests are taken. Cavalry always take tests.

Marshes are dangerous terrain for ALL units EXCEPT skirmishers -- in addition, cavalry, monstrous cav, and chariots fail their dangerous terrain test on a 1 or 2.

You can't march through a river but all other movement is normal (no dangerous terrain test unless one of the special rivers calls for it), so yes, you can charge. If your unit is partway in the river when you fight, that's bad news because you get no rank bonus. Also they can never claim Steadfast in a river (though this doesn't affect them if they're normally Stubborn like Great Swords).
