Ok, I must admit, when I heard the next mini you would be working on, I was skeptical.  TBH, I have never really liked that mini, because he was like, "Hey look at me, I am on Fire!, And I am magical!"  (Besides, does he even fit into a rank?)  But, with an alternate color scheme, I am really digging him!  Well done sir!  :::cheers:::

I too was sceptical about that model, never really liked it, but those purple flames look really good. They do make him look a bit evil though, together with the skull staff he could be some chaos cultist.

I like the purple lighting effect except for the face. Makes him look clownish, or like he fell asleep with his face in a raspberry pie.

The painting is excellent (as usual). The model is...well, the less said, the better.
It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

I don't understand why some people bash on this mini, I think it's a great sculpt, I would love to paint it myself. On top of that it really  fits nicely into the warhammer fluff.

You painted him very good, especially the purple flames are nicely done.  :eusa_clap:
The eyes look a bit unfinished still.
You have read their mind Darius. That is probably how they hope you will think.

Love that mini. Flames look oddly great in purple too.

As an aside, looks better photographed against the black / grey background than the white.

Well I still can say that this mini in my opinion is not of the best gw has made. But I really like the additional colors used!! It gives a different point of view and looks much better that been with normal fire color!

Love the mini - I agree with you Mr CW. The model is much better in your hand than in the photos GW have put out. However, although your paint job is up to your usual very high standard I dislike the colour choices - sorry no offence meant just my honest opinion. I have no issue with the flames being non-conventional colours but the choice of non-traditional colours for the robes of a bright wizard is something I can't get my head around. I stress again the painting is great and better than what I could do its the colours you've used for the robes that is my issue - had you considered red or orange ones ?

I also have this model half painted as I am having "fun" with the flames in the newer realistic but inside-out to my way of thinking and traditional painting style. Keep up the good work Mr CW as I have a slightly competitive nature (in a nice way) with regards to your blog with regards to collecting and painting although I stress I am losing very badly.

Not to be a curmudgeon but don't flames work the other way round. They are white at the base and red at the extremities.

I also, personally, don't like the colour scheme. Purple flames good, blue roads bad. I know that the blue/purple paint scheme you are happiest with, but seriously, what kind of bright wizard would wear blue. Assuming he didn't have an accident when doing his washing with some jeans.

I think he would look better with either very light yellow or orange clothing.

Black background defo better for snap.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

I didn't really think about what i wanted it to be.

I just decided on purple flames and then went for it.

Lore of Death is most appropriate for the finished scheme ai
