GW release schedule
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:41:28 AM »
Really wish they'd run on a longer schedule.. one that actually gives them time to release all the army books, take a breather to add some supplements and extra goodies like terrain, and give it time to settle while they work on the new edition.

6-7 years would be a much more sensible pace.

There are 16 fantasy armies, each of them really need 2 release waves (a month each) to get a respectable amount of new models.

That's 2 years and 8 months of releases, just for fantasy. 40k and LotR need an equal amount of time too, they can't fit it in to 4 years. Especially considering how Empire is now on it's 3rd release wave for 7th edition... there were other armies that could have used new plastics a lot more than us, in the same way that there are a lot of 40k armies that should be getting some plastic instead of the new space marine releases next month.
Can anyone give me more info on the Empire release waves for 7th edition? Apparently we've had 3?

You fail to understand that Space Marines are their cash monkey for 40K. As long as they are their best selling army, they are going to continue getting the Lion's share of releases.

As for Fantasy, they have already announced the release of two armies for this year and there is only 2 months between them. That seems pretty fast to me. There definitely are armies in Fantasy that need updated models though. I can't say I'm upset that the Empire got some new stuff though, this is a website devoted to Empire so that shouldn't come as a surprise. If the rumors are to be believed, the Tomb Kings will unfortunately not be getting any new skeletons, which is sad as they really need an update.

So we did. The last one was Greatswords, Archers, and the Tank. Statetroops, Sigmar priests and the fast cavalry was the first. Helstorm, mages, and the general were either first or second, I forgot which, plus some metal characters.

Wasn't the second release Helblaster/Helstorm, Mages and Flagellants, with a special Battallion Box as well?

Yes, those were the second wave. So, we have had three waves. Hence, I guess the next thing we will really get besides rumoured demigryph riders this summer should be a new Army book, maybe next year. And I would guess we will see a new box of knights by then.
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!
