Enjoying the variations on the uniforms. :::cheers:::

I've been painting the Grey/White as follows

White= Dheneb > Thin layers of SkullW > Watered down Fortress Grey to recesses > Highlights 50/50 SkullWhite and Fort Grey > Skull White
Grey = Codex Grey > Adeptus Battlegrey to recesses > codex grey + Fort grey to even the lightings > Fortress Grey for Higlights

Might not be the right way , but I've found it fitting

Thanks for the comments, keeps a fellow empire soldier going  :::cheers::: . I'll try to get those uniform patterns rolling... but don't expect anything too dramatic

Looks fantastic Slavik! I am a Wissenlander myself and I could certainly work at getting better at painting. I think I will try learning from you as I start my next batch of state troops, thanks! (Tips on the red vest are welcome as well)

Looks good, but the pics are a bit too dark.
You have read their mind Darius. That is probably how they hope you will think.

ah darn, apologies again  Seems like I'm just too excited about posting new stuff here that I don't spend too much time adjusting the lighting, I hope these turned out brighter.

I decided to put the halberdiers aside for a moment and do another character model.

He will serve as my WP/AL model. I thought I would take part in the painting competition this month, just asking is it open for posting WPs now?

Tried out some of that woodgrain on the book cover

Arselus; I'm happy to hear that  :::cheers::: I'll post some tips for the redvest later

I really like the red jerkin on that Halberdier, adds a lot of colour to the model and variation to the unit. Fantastic idea!

Finally got these guys finished.  I've had some painting blues and busy summer, but now I'll try to get back to the hobby.

So here is the Wissenburg City Guard,  I'm planning to do a unitfiller for them in the future.

I also updated the first page of this blog for the army composition.

Hey, that's a nice banner you did on the Sigmarite priest!

Good blending there.

Really inspiring. What do you use as the green on the bases? Looks good and I am trying to find something else then the static grass to use.

Thanks! I've been trying to put some effort on the bases.

Really inspiring. What do you use as the green on the bases? Looks good and I am trying to find something else then the static grass to use.

For the  green ground parts I use GForce 9 - summer blend flock and for the "bushes" I use Gforce 9 - Spring undergrowth flock.

The interesting part about the bases is that the branches on the bushes are made of grape peduncles(?)  and the "mud" is actually saw dust and sand dyed with coffee  :icon_lol: I wonder when the trays will decompose.

Now to show that I haven't been completely slacking off, I actually have something  to update!

First these scenery barricades that I got from ebay when I bought them in a same package with some trees. I think they are originally made for 40k? But I decided to blend them into our fantasy board, so I put some shields and other stuff on the places where there were guns and "other future stuff" lying next to the sacks.

just quickly made the banner from GS and washed everything, quick highlights. I think those look fine enough for our battlefield.

meanwhile my friend based his arcane ruins. Turned out quite nice

and first bunch of Flaggies!

Decided to put the flaggies on hold for a while. So to get something else to do I started working on my artillery. I've always been a fan of artillerybases and I've seen some really nice bases on this forum as well. So I decided to build my own.

I've finished the cannon so far and working on the mortar atm. I also went and bought another batallion for next year

Cannon base WIP pics

and finished

very nice!
how do you do the skin?

I do the flesh simply with Coat D'arms Tanned Flesh, then use ogryn flesh wash and highlight it again with TannedF, then highlight the final layer with 50/50 TannedF and normal F

Thanks for the comments, Glory to the Grey!

I think they might just be the best looking artillery bases I've seen.

This army would look stunning moving acros the board.

The movement tray for the Halberdiers is nice, the use of grey stones and tree branches makes it look so natural. Every state trooper in that unit looks different, so much character.

Really like the bases and terrain peices, presents a strong visual image that they are defending their homeland, awesome work :eusa_clap:
