Stolzeuhu's Ostermark - Help with luminark conversion
« on: June 04, 2011, 07:44:55 PM »
Hello everyone,

after few years of lurking, reading, learning and stealing ideas, I decided it's time to show some of my troops. Unfortunately I don't have access to camera right now, so I can only share few old pics I had on my PC.

I've been collecting Empire (Ostermark) for 4 or 5 years by now, with few long breaks. Right now I have about 4000+ pts of stuff, and 90% of this is painted, so this blog will grow bigger in time...

First few test pictures, starting with scratch build/converted mortar:

I have another one made from dwarf cart from BfSP, I left some dwarf icons as I'm using BfSP dwarfs as crewmen.

Light wizard, my favourite hero, unfortunately picture is not sharp so he looks as if he was painted quite good   :-P

Warrior Priests, mounted one needs to get normal photo session in the future, I don't know why I didn't make front shot of him...

Captain with hand weapon/shield, made from old reiksguard knight - he will be repainted

Knights of Morr: champion, regular knight, and a huntsmen - I have full unit of 13 knights, I must find a reason to use them in 8ed

Crossbowmen

My beloved children of sigmar - mix of Mordheim, 6ed and 7ed models:

And state troops:
swordsmen (plus kislevite free company guy)

whole unit:

and spearmen/pikemen:

banners will be repainted to correspond designs from heraldry and uniforms of the empire

More pics in few weeks
C&C welcome
 :::cheers:::

They are great! Can't wait to see more recent pictures aswell.

Though I wonder why you want to repaint the banners.. They look great!

As for the painting it all looks good, though you might want to highlight a bit more (especially the yellow looks to "flat")

PS: Your blog is added to the sticky :)

Hi Stolzeuhu, welcome after youre lurking periode.  :::cheers:::

I really like all youre models. Youre warriorpriest on horseback though will receive a little comment. You remodelled the legs of the horse which is fine, it is just that (in combination with the small tail) it looks like I have to throw in a coin to make it move..  like the kiddy rides in front of shopping centres. The static posture of the legs get all motion and dynamic out of the model. The (false looking) small tail even more adds to this assumption. The champion of morr horse is much better in my opinion.

Like I said, great models, great army and excellent paintjobs :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:, that priest is just not it!  :smile2:

love the idea of converting that old spearman to a standard bearer! consider it stolen!

and don't listin to the evil Henerius, I find the static pose of the priest fully acceptable! a well drilled horse is standing still when their master is giving an inspirational speech to the common soldiers! (after all he is a long time warveteran that has some control over his steed, not like some movie actors that can't get their horse to stand still)

overall good looking army you've got! :eusa_clap:

a well drilled horse is standing still when their master is giving an inspirational speech to the common soldiers!

well that was the idea behind mini, but truth is that Henerius is more than right, wich I realised just too late, after I finished the WP - still standing horse looks really awkward in cavalry unit of charging knights

Pics don't show it, but mounted warrior priest has a little unnatural pose, as if he was uptight. Horse tail was the only option - more than half of my army is second handed, so marginal conversions were needed to replace missing parts, etc. Most of my state troops was earlier nordlanders and reiklanders, judging from many layers of paint I cleaned from them (and assuming, that black was just primer, not Nuln :-))

@StealthKnightSteg: I don't like painting yellow sooo much.... My mistake is that I decided to read some tutorial just few weeks ago, so I'll have to pay for my ignorance, use some dark yellow wash on the recesses of old minis and paint new troops with different technique

And banners... Different colour on banner with just few state colours accents looks very well in the unit, and Uniforms and Heraldry of the Empire has few ideas that are worth copying

@ all pike fans: few more old pics of them, from WiP stadium - btw pose of the first rank also look unnatural and is very impractical - next units of pikes will hold them pointing up

Hello again everbody,

right now I'm learning how to cast some bits in plastic, but during the breakes I also work on few side projects:

Fire wizard lord, proof that wizard kit allows You to make three mages. Right now being prepared to paint:

and back, notice salamander familiar on the left side of the base:

Sneak peak of some big guys:

General on griffon - future fulcrum fighter, various stages of Whttp://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?action=post;topic=38628.0;last_msg=608578IP, right now waiting with painting till I sculpt the goblin that would try to help the orc on the base:

And this:

I started it a long before there was plastic model, I hate this unit so after 5 years I still couldn't find motivation to finish it... Just stick some new bits here and there.

Right now it's much bigger than rules allow (before new model some base size reference from GW site gave it 80:120 base!), but who cares - I still field it only for 3500+ battles.

And another photo of crazed guys:

Krieg indeed, like black metal :smile2: I try to write German (Reikspiel) everywhere where writings are, as it's the most "Warhammery" and "Empire'y" language  Steam tank is nicknamed "Rächer" (avenger) - and it'll be also written on front of it (some day).

I actually thought that is was a reference to Krieg from 40K

Well done sir, but you may wash your yellow with grypphone sepia, do add more depth to it, as it seems a bit flat.
I especially like your conversions on the pikemen

Oh my oh my

This hobby is great, but unfortunately everyday life is so time consuming, that I needed to take a little brake from wfb. So, after few months I'm coming back with stinky swamp guys - Storm of Magic fenbeasts.

Unfortunately, pictures aren't the best quality and I undercoated models before I checked that, so more visible pics after painting.
