I think what makes detachments so special is that we are the only army that has them, therefore it is a gift other players do not have.

Anytime you have something and the other does not it can be used to your advantage.

Exactly! If I have a pet lion, I can throw myself into combat with complete fearlessness, for I know I have a pet lion at my side. Thus I can use detachments, bitterly clinging-on to the enemy's flank like a rabid honey-badger...that has a pet lion...because it has fleas...and is rabid at the same time...with fleas........and  rabies...........

Well I have used a swordfighter Bus last tourney and was rather pleased with it.....if only I had detachments my glory would have been even bigger.

Shadow magic and Light magic really add to our lousy fightyness. My swords took on S2 Ws1 Trolls and smashed through a horde of Ws1 S2 T1 Gors.

Well, it failed as a joke, but I didn't take offence and my dad died of cancer this week.

Yea with shadow and swordsmen, you can either reduce the opponents strength, and get your 5+/6++ or reduce their toughness and dish out resonable damage with S3 weapons considering they hit more often at WS4.  Either way it's a win win.  Swordsmen are better then halberdiers anyways.

I took on my friend George's Orcs and Goblins at the local game store last night...but we only got in 3 turns before the owner started closing-up shop. SO, we are going to set-up a game at his place this or next weekend so we can play it to conclusion no matter how long it takes us. This way I'll be able to do a proper batrep. I have battle chronicler all set to go.

There is an upcoming tournament at the same store that we are both getting our lists ready for. I just have lots of painting to do to fill in ranks, new movement trays to make, new army list to write, etc. etc.
