The swordsmen I like because they have actual swords as opposed to little daggers than the 6th ed models had.

However, the Halberdiers suck. They dont rank up right and I hate how the Halbders break off. Thank God Artizan makes good halberdiers. Just sucks they are metal.

Buy the Mann's troops from Forgeworld for front rank men in your units.  They are wonderfully crafted.  I have 20 that's I've used for swordsmen and halberdiers.

I don't mind the state troops, though puff and slash sleeves would have been better.

Hmm with the rumor of them bringing some 4th edition stuff back, if it were Reiksguard, I wonder if they'd drop the Great Swords back to heavy armor, which might explain why they were sculpted that way and not in plate, then their points would be costed down, and the Reiksguard would be our field plate troops.

Person A talking to person B.
"You know what would be cool? If they added Teutogen Guard back next Empire update."
"Yeah, totally!"
Person C overhearing conversation: "omg GW is going to put Teutogen Guard back in! WRITE IT IN RUMOUR SECTION!"

Don't get your hopes up, guys. This is a wish-list, if anything.

I'd buy them -- I just sold my metal Teutogen guard. Liked the figs but I'm eliminating metal wherever possible.

Well, I was dropped on my head a few times as a child and ended up in the hospital after I rode my tricycle down the stairs (by accident).

If it turns out to be a nice model I maybe would finally field a war altar! I'm really excited what it will be like. For the rest of the rumors I'm curious which of them are true. Teutogen Guard? Yes! Inner Circle Knight? Yes Please! And it would be really cool to get different priests.

I have a certain dread about it. The old War Altar model was, in essence, a cart with a stone altar on the flatbed. Not insane, quite practical - you can imagine the Sigmarites going to the cathedral, performing the rites, saying the prayers, and taking the altar and statue out in procession with much incense and bells and chanting and so forth. Then, they set a small, modest but beautiful altar on the cart and process to war with it.

This has precident in the real world - many, many Catholic congregations process with a statue of Christ or the Blessed Mother etc. through the streets. The statues are small (usually less than life-size) and made of painted wood or plaster. They can be carried by four or so men. Sometimes, a larger statue will be carried on the back of a truck like a parade float. Still practical and fairly modest.

I fear that the Warhammer SKULLZ! mantra will come and crap upon this lovely piece of religious devotionalism like a giant mutant pigeon with a bad case of the squits. I fear we will end up with something which is nothing less than a large chapel in the shape of a griffon swinging a hammer with a head made of an anthropomorphic skull wielding a scythe while standing on a skull and scatting hourglasses from its butt.

The fact it probably won't be convertable :(

I'd LOVE a kit which was a flatbed cart of some kind with a load of options - two or three statues, with three or four swappable weapons, options for wings or not. A stone altar with a couple of plaques / icons which were swapable. A few banners / braziers / looped chains. An Arch Lector figure which was multi-part and compatible with the rest of the range.

That would make a multi-religion Altar easily, and encourage uniqueness. As it is, I fear we are going to get a load of cookie-cutter cRaZy! War Altars and that is just sad.

The Flaggies kit, for example, is awesome - because you can do so much with it. But imagine if there was only one way to assemble 20 crazies because of the way the kit was designed ... unless you were very skilled and prepared to spend a lot of time.

Don't get me wrong - GW has done (and still does) very good kits with lots of options - but recently the big centerpieces have been almost "single option" models, and that is kind of sad.

I am absolutely certain the new War Altar will be a thing of beauty - a lovely model and a great centerpiece. I am just afraid it is going to be more of a Mona Lisa than a Lego set, if you know what I mean.

Fear not. GW minis are, after all, done by professional skullptors.

I know I did this one before. So what.

Actual Catholic chapel.

Quote
The crypt is located just under Santa Maria della Concezione, a church commissioned by Pope Urban VIII in 1626. The pope’s brother, Cardinal Antonio Barberini, who was a member of the Capuchin order, in 1631 ordered the remains of thousands of Capuchin friars exhumed and transferred from the friary Via dei Lucchesi to the crypt. The bones were arranged along the walls, and the friars began to bury their own dead here, as well as the bodies of poor Romans, whose tomb was under the floor of the present Mass chapel. Here the Capuchins would come to pray and reflect each evening before retiring for the night.

The crypt, or ossuary, now contains the remains of 4,000 friars buried between 1500-1870, during which time the Roman Catholic Church permitted burial in and under churches. The underground crypt is divided into five chapels, lit only by dim natural light seeping in through cracks, and small fluorescent lamps. The crypt walls are decorated with the remains in elaborate fashion, making this crypt a macabre work of art. Some of the skeletons are intact and draped with Franciscan habits, but for the most part, individual bones are used to create elaborate ornamental designs. The crypt originated at a period of a rich and creative cult for their dead; great spiritual masters meditated and preached with a skull in hand.

A plaque in one of the chapels reads, in three languages, “What you are now, we once were; what we are now, you shall be.”

The Catholic Church is more Warhammer than Warhammer ever will be.
