What does the apothocary do, rules-wise? Add 'feel no pain' to the command squad?

I want to see speeders!

That is exactly what they do Rufus.

The painted rhino of the 5th squad.

The 5th squad use the vertical, single headed, arrow for  their tactical markings instead of the horizontal two headed arrow of the rest of the company. This is because their sergeant, was transferred from the 4th battle company where that variation is employed by their captain. He has been allowed to continue to use this variation out of respect for his past. He was transferred to help provide experience and leadership to train the marines of the reserve company for their future roll in the battle companies after 100 years of service in the company. His promotion to marine sergeant in the 7th his reward. Chapters need all levels from their marines, and he was never good enough for the 1st so training the next generation.

knarloc green base, the old striking scorpion green first highlight and add a little white to it for the final highlight. Then a little dot of white in the opposite corner to mimic reflection

With the deadline of the eurobash approaching my revilers have been top of the priority list. My wife is a secondary/6th form dance teacher so the school production has provided a few nights alone parenting (babysitting really) our daughter. Fortuantenly my daugther is wonderful with sleeping so i've managed to paint 2 marines in those two days. Here they are:

Sergeant, 1st squad. The first squad is the company veterans and brethe 1st squad sergeant is considered company sergeant, the seninor NCO.

Specialist marine, 2nd squad. I was originally only going to have bolter weapons in my squads, heavies and normals. But i realised the need for some special weapons so re assigned a bolter armed marine from 2nd to 3rd squad and painted up a plasma gun armed marine.

The wife has now gone away for the weekend with the daughter to see her folks. I've got rugby this weekend. However the predicted snow will mean the game cancelled and snowed in so loads of painting to be done! Might even ge the command squad finished. The other three and assembled, primed, and had thier first grey base coat. Who knows.

great work.
I'm worried about the snow for my hockey too. Big game for us, we are chasing promotion and a win brings us to third on goal difference.

when are you doing the speeders?
I think I need to start doing more vehicles as I am enjoying the infantry, so might want some of them to do when I'm fed up of the vehicles!

Might do the speeder instead of the command squad. I, like you, hate painting vehicles. So need to break it up.
I got all the beakies when I worked for GW around 2000. The kids hated then so I used to swap them. Had to buy the last 4 on ebay for 4! You only get them in the tactical box and the only 2.

Yes, do a speeder! I like them.

I can't believe anyone could hate the beaky heads. They should put ten of each kind into a tactical marine box so people can choose.

Yes they should.  Beakies FTW.  My friend bought a box of ten rogue trader marines, all are beakies, for 5.  How awesome is that?
The more I look at this thread, the more I want my own beaky army.

Right I've borrowed a SM codex and have worked out my list aiming for 1750.

Captain: Power sword, melta bombs
Command squad: power fist, power sword, 2 flamers
Razorback: TLAC

Tactical squad (10): heavy bolter, plasma gun, rhino

Tactical squad (10): heavy bolter, plasma gun, combi plasma, rhino

Tactical squad (10): missile launcher, melta gun, combi melta rhino

2 predator destructors: HKM

2 speeders: multi melta, H flamer

2 speeders: multi melta, H flamer

2 speeders: typhoon missile, H bolter

That leaves me 80pts. Any ideas.

Not many new units you can really get for those points FR1DAY.  Unless you have already assembled the models, you could dish out some power weapons/power fists/meltabombs to sergents and command squad.

Im unsure exactly on the points, but you may be able to add a 3rd speeder to one of the squads?  You could put some vehicle upgrades on your tanks too.  Again, without knowing if you have assembled them I can't really say what to do.

I wouldnt have two tactical squads with heavy bolters, unless you have assembled/painted them.  Having seen your fantastically painted models, I wouldn't want to be telling you leave anything out you have already done.

Thanks crimson. I haven't assembled the third tactical squad yet. What heavy weapon would you suggest?
Could take an extra speeder with MM and HF for 70pts and a combi plasma on squad sergeant for 10. I would have to get 2 more helmets. I was also thinking of dropping the combi plasma on the tactical squad and get a squad of scouts with sniper rifles and cameo cloaks. A forward recon team for the armoured assault.
Balance wise is it best to have two predator destructor patten tanks. Do I need any las cannons when I've got 4 speeders with multi meltas. Is it worth only having the auto cannon and no sponsons at aLl?
Everything you've seen is all that is assembled except the command squad which is being painted ATM

I think you should get some scouts. They are a troops choice, right? Not with sniper rifles though, since they suck.

That's more than enough speeders already!

What do you think about the predators? Sponsors or not and do i need las cannons?
I like the idea of a unit of scouts, I was going to do some anyway. Would you equip them for combat? I would like to get a speeder storm as they are cool and in keeping with the theme.
Do the sniper rifles on hit on 4's because of BS 3? The WS 3 doesn't matter as much in combat. They can only really deal with basic enemy infantry like guard, guardians, fire warriors, etc. though.

I have been really ill this weekend. The wife is away and its snowing, so no rugby, so had a warhammer weekend planned.  Andy came over for a game of fantasy at 2700pts on friday evening. We had fish and chips for dinner, and i must of had something bad, because before the end of the game i was sick. Just managed to finish the turn and have been in bed since feeling shit.

Still not 100% but TV is so shit that i've got to force myself to paint to give me something to do. Have base coated and black lined the speeder crew and a command squad marine. I have also decided on how the speeder insignia is laid out. The rhino was easy because there is an example in a forge world book of a predator. There isn't a great deal of free space on the speeder for insignia. I need to get purple panels with the number 7 on, squad markings of the double headed arrow with a VIII on it and the chapter and army group badges.

I don't really know enough about scouts or predators to say either way. But I think I'd go for combat scouts in a storm speeder. I think they can do a first turn charge.

Lascannons on predators are quite expensive! I'd probably leave the sponsons off too. But I don't know.

Yes. And sniper rifles won't kill anything much.

I'd give Predators an AC turret and Lascannon sponsons, that way you get the most bang for your buck.

And yeah, a small unit of scouts with a Powerfist Sergeant in a LS Storm can be both amusing and effective.

The power fist option seems really expensive for a very fragile unit. Do you use them for the turn one charge to kill a tank?
I was thinking about las cannons for the rouge trader look on the predators.

I have painted the speeder crew now and first base coated the speeder. Ready to finish off a command squad marine next.

powerfists are expensive, but oh so useful. I definitely think you need some throughout the army.

turn one to charge a tank is probably quite a good idea.

In the SM codex preds work best with Las sponsons and AC turrets. 120 points, lots of firepower. A "dakka" pred with an AC turret and HB sponsons for 85 points is good too for just forcing lots of saves for cheap. You could lose a HKM and afford one, or lose the combi plasma off the sarge who has one. If your destructors don't already have sponsons drop some combis and grab the HB sponsons, a steal for the points.

That looks like a nice list though. Lots of fast melta, plenty of scoring units, solid.
