Warhammer Olympics
« on: July 31, 2012, 09:05:18 PM »
I've tried watching the Olympics, it just doesn't work for me.

Boxing with head guards for 3 rounds, Judo shirt pinching and swimming zzzzzzzzzzz..

The Russian Gymnasts tonite were looking better though!

I almost got a semi on with some of the women's volleyball also.

rofl

Just not what i want to see though really, the whole Olympics thing.

Now instead you could have each country facing off a 3K game of Warhammer.

''And China's Chaos Warrior unit has crumbled under a charge from the UK's Empire Reiksguard Knights ending the 6th round. China 7.1/10, UK. 8.9/10''

and the crowd goes wild.

''Iran have tried a shock tactic, bringing a whole army of Skaven Rat Slaves, it's unprecedented Gary, just what will happen next ?!''

When a major sporting event is on I find it the perfect time to play Blood Bowl  :::cheers:::

The Marienburg Marauders featuring Griff Oberwald and Mighty Zug  :-D

Just got to convince my local GW store to host a Blood Tournament whilst the Olympics are on  :eusa_wall:  :eusa_wall:

I dont know what to say to people who don't "get" the Olympics - to me it truly is the greatest show on earth

The drama, the pathos, the raw humanity is just indescribeable
To see four years of a persons hard work, their every working moment focused on just a few short minutes is just unbelievable
The drama of the men's gymnastics and GB taking bronze for the first time in 100 years
The Russian women in tears having seen their gold disappear after the slightest of errors at the end of a flawless performance

Just brilliant from start to finish, and makes playing with toy soldiers look like the child's play it is
We go to gain a little patch of ground that hath in it no profit but the name.

I've gotta say, I'm a fan of the Olympics myself. Fortunately I'm on vacation during most of them this time, so I'm getting an opportunity to watch some.

Far more than just 4 years of work!

And although I haven't watched the Olympics in ages, I still "get it" for exactly that reason. It's like the grown up version of all those horrible competitive "reality show" programs. Instead of a bunch of smack-talking egomaniacs playing out some immature drama on the screen, the Olympics are more like the world's hardest working competitors solemnly letting their accomplishments speak for themselves.

Back to the Warhammer, though, I thought this was going to be a thread about Olympic themed Warhammer events... like the Javelin throw, archery competitions, fencing, etc. using WFB based rules.

Haha, the differences between the lives of students and the working. I'm on vacation next week, so I don't get to see them.  :icon_neutral:

@ Uryens - agree the emotion is amazing, but when i was watching on BBC online, they seem to go from one bout to the next , with no show of the emotion.

It was only last night with the Gymnasts and seeing them cry etc that was real heart wrenching,

tell me what to watch to improve my opinion?

women's volleyball? :)

no serious, tell me what i should watch , i want to see what i am missing

it's all online for viewing

Fencing, it's awesome and everyone doing it gets competitive. Also track and field, lots of raw emotion there that almost always gets shown.

After the Olympics, start following K-1.

I like the Olympics but would be very happy if they added some awesome warhammer games to it.
