Looks cool, but he's sitting on it's neck.  Widening the legs wouldn't be too hard and placing him more on the back would make it look more natural.  Good idea though, I like it!

Look even more like creatures of Chaos than the present Demi-Griffons.

Maybe we need to move away from "riders" and more into "handlers" . . . . ?

They're OK. They look more like ogres, though.

I think they'd look way out of place in an Empire army. Unless it was a "corrupted by chaos" themed  Empire army.

I think they look great! an have the perfect base size. But yeah, they'd need a look of re-sculpting to actually fit into an Empire army.

I was thinking Privateers press' raptors could be great ostland alternatives

though bishmeisters' suggestion is now very possible to: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1250233a (though a bit costly)

Haven't seen scibor mentioned yet but i may have missed em:

three variations too so perfect match.

I've ordered one for a test. I'll let you guys know how he turns out.

I like the idea of something along the lines of the WE great stag, or this model...

Unfortunately the former is expensive and a bit ugly, and the latter has a rather static pose. But in concept, I think it would be cool to do a sort of "noble huntsmen" type unit. I'd make their lances look like oversized hunting spears.

Another option would be to look for some big cats. Sort of a Knights Uber Panther unit.

Where can I find this mini? What company is making them, I'd love to get som elk/stag minis for my army

It's from the dead game, Chronopia. Prince August now owns the figures. You can occasionally still find them in stores with old stock. I got two of them out of a discount bin years ago.

I forgot to mention this, but last time I played (months ago) in our "Grillfest" tournament, my elephant riders did so well in one game, my opponent kept referring to them "eating" everything. So I started thinking about modeling some colorful hippos instead of elephants...

Two things, Prince August has regular sales during the year on their Warzone and Chronopia stuff. You can get a better deal if you wait. Sign up for their newsletter and you get notifications when they have their sales. I think they usually have one around Christmas time.

Another bigger problem though is the high amount of their Warzone and Chronopia stock that has lead rot. Blistered items like the Sons of Kronos Monarch fig, which this stead comes with, tend to have less lead rot in them. Most of the boxed set Chronopia items I've gotten have had from light to heavy lead rot. Especially those that didn't have their lead parts packaged in plastic bags in the boxes. Those that had their lead parts against the "protective" foam in the boxes have lead rot. Some of it was really bad. I got a Firstborn Chariot shipped to me by mistake, in an order. I offered to return it but they said keep it. I was excited, until I opened it. Once I opened it I realized it wasn't a gift after all. The lead rot was so bad almost all the detail was gone. It looked more like an armature for a chariot than a chariot. All of it's parts were not in plastic bags and pressed against the foam.

I noticed that when they redid their web store for the Warzone and Chronopia items that a lot of their items are no longer available. Maybe they went through their stock and go rid of the stuff with lead rot.

The new Chaos Marine gun dinosaur looking things look a lot like the Hungry Hungry Hippos in general shape!
