The Emperors executioners - SirU's Space Wolves (UPDATED 28/FEB/2013)
warhammerlord_soth:
If you're going for one thread, definitely here.
Can't have these Wolfboys thrudding around the B&P now, can we ?
Crimsonsphinx:
Army painter sprays are really good. I have a dragon red, white, black, uniform grey and angel green from them now!
So you think the new space wolves blue colouration is from the new paints? That is annoying. Could they have not used Celestra grey which looks much more like the old space wolf colour?
It really annoys me when they fiddle with things for no apparent reason. I don't mean the paints, I mean the colour of the space wolves. It would be like ultramarines being painted in say navy blue!

Definetely the new paints. The change of paint manufactorer was a very positive one in terms of how the paints function, but a terrible one for those of us in the middle of painting an army. I tested all "brands" of the new GW paints and they are excellent but due to the changes in the mediums and pigments they couldn't apparently hold on to the old colors...
As to the colour scheme of Space Wolves changing... I honestly didn't expect anything else. With the Sons of Russ the only constant is change. GW has changed the "canon" color scheme so many times I can't keep track anymore. But I don't mind. My guys are painted to a grey I prefer and that's good enough for me!
Crimsonsphinx:
Have they? I have then 2nd edition rulebook and Space wolves look to be the same colour then as in the current codex.
The only chapter I noticed changed was Blood Angels between 2nd and 3rd edition when they did away with the black trim on the shoulder pads.
Last time they moved, when the went from cote d arms, the paints remained the same colours more or less. I am wondering if the paint issue is more to do with the fact it is made in China rather than the EU.
PhillyT:
Love the paint job! I will say that the dirt on the hatch does look out of place when there isn't even any dirt on the lower part of the rhino itself. I am iffy on the models for wolves. Sme look silly, though I adore the Viking style.
The blueish grey appearance is sort of neat, thoug I am fine with a straight grey color too. Have you thought about weathering or chipping them ups little bit?
