Yeah, you guys are not really making me regret being a lazy painter.

40 hours on a large regiment would be way too much for my taste. On a single model?  :eusa_wall:

Looking good, though.

Kind of a large, centrepiece-like, full-of-intricate-detail type of single model though Hoodling. I think its worth it.

The books/scrolls are done finally. And yes - all books in the Empire are naturally published in either a green or red hardback. Anything else invites the attention of the witchhunters.

Love your work, mate, keep it coming! :eusa_clap:

Your painting log has got me fired up as well. Only need to wait until the last term finals are over (so about two weeks :icon_cry: ) before I can get cracking on my own army (of which the painting log has been buried for waaaaaaay too long...). :eusa_wall:

Thanks all. Hearing encouraging comments helps me keep the work going.

Next up, the podium or pulpit railing is done. Quite a bit of 'edging' needed on this bit, but worth it.

Last night i finally got round to actually gluing some bits together. The base, as well as left, right & back panels (with books/scrolls inserted), roof (no individual pic for this sorry) and lastly stairs were all assembled. They DONT go together easily, at least thats what i found.

The small protrusions (which go into the respective holes) for assembly needed quite a bit of filing, and not just because they had a few layers of paint. In some cases i had to cut them off altogether. Im happy with the end result though:

Stairs, base and left panel come together:

Great paint job.  What kind of blue are you using? Are you using a lot of shade?

See, that first assembly shot just makes me sad that all that interior work is about to be hidden. It looks like the background for a diorama or something, and instead it will be concealed within the model and nobody will ever really see it. I can appreciate that you might want it all done properly in case people get glimpses of it, or for your own peace of mind, but it's just so much unrewarded effort. It's like painting the interior of a steam tank - I just can't do it.

Having said all of that, this would have to be the prettiest Hurricanum I've seen. Should be a work of art when it's done. Although I didn't see a copy of Gotrek and Felix on the shelves after all...

Seconded, since that interior is absolutely STUNNING! The colours also complement each other very well, with the cold, light blue contrasting with the crisp, dark blue.  :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Cheers,

It is more for my own peace of mind, but unlike the interior of the steam tank, you can actually see quite clearly into the hurricanum, albeit if you inspect the model closely. Ive noticed that the human eye will want to look closer if it does see theres extra detail there. Do others agree? Also, I wasnt entirely sure what would and wouldnt be visible before painting - so in doubt i just painted most surfaces. But, if it makes you feel better, some parts werent touched (for instance the underside of the roof).

And yes, the gotrek and felix novel never came about. I think i couldnt be bothered to try write a gothic-style freehand quite that small, and if one book had a title, i would have felt oblidged to give them all one.

The wierd device on top is soon-to-be-painted, but in the meantime i couldnt resist adding the main body to the base with the horses:

Yeah, this Hurricanum is never allowed to sit next to mine. I, uh... wouldn't want yours to suffer by comparison.

Yeah, that's it.  :closed-eyes:

Absolutely lovely work.  I hadn't really considered getting any of the new magic chariots, but seeing yours painted up gives me better appreciation for the kit and how nice it is.  May have to spend some money after all...

True, as I also like to look closely at the intricate detail on the miniatures. The human eye does fixate onto something interesting, or well, maybe it's the human mind, I dunno... I'm an engineer, Jim, not a psychiatrist! :icon_razz:

Anyhoo, keep 'em coming! Can't wait for the next update as the model keeps getting better and better as you add on more parts :icon_smile:

@Belstone

Thanks mate. Colours used are the foundation paint necron abyss, highlighted with the foundation paint mordian blue, then highlighted with increasing amounts of lothern blue. Not using shade much except for the scrollwork across the main hurricanum body and the pulpit.

@Loran

Thanks. Im glad someone agrees about the detailed stuff. Otherwise id feel like i was taking crazy pills:

@iamtheeviltwin

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, succumb to your desires and get one of the new chariots. Then take forever painting it just to annoy Hoodling.  :icon_biggrin:

At Cancon i will sneakily arrange for ours to be judged side by side, then no doubt find that everyone still prefers your cool conversions over my laborious paint job.

Cheers mate - but we're still waiting on your yet-to-be-finished Luminark.
