rufus sparkfire:
I definitely want new 40K rules. The current ones are only fun about half the time.

They are in the picture, so it's true.

PhillyT:
They do seem to like each other I that pic!

Finlay:
so in one specific fight they decided it was better to team up... which means they can ally all the time?

Surely that rumour can't be true, it doesn't even make 40k sense!

PhillyT:
Yeah sounds like wishery with me.

7th had fundamentally flawed rules (most models never got to fight in combat) but was still fun to play. It needed to change. 8th is less flawed in that sense but they added in unfun things like dwellers. Magic is overall better in 8th, certainly buffs and hexes made it more interesting and varied. The problems cavalry have are entirely to do with being costed for 7th in the older books. In newer books they can be taken. Overall I slightly prefer 8th.

I'm with Phil that 40k needs only tweaks. Cover could use some work and I feel vehicles could be slightly tweaked. They feel all or nothing. You can make a bunch of smoke saves and have a rhino shrug off 4 lascannons, or have a land raider fail one and pop. It feels too random.
