Scar's Nordland Empire plog!
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:30:47 AM »
Hey all!

Before i start posting pictures i will introduce myself!
My name is Peter and some might know me as Darkritual or Scar on other forums.
Im playing warhammer/40k for about 15 years now and still love the hobby as much as i did when i started.
Painting is always the thing i like the most of the hobby and last year i even started doing some commission work but when im free from commissions i like to paint army's myself.
Last week i won Armies on Parade from Netherlands/Belgium with my Ogre Kingdoms and i'm pretty proud of this achievement!
If you are interested in my work and the army i painted here is a link to my website: www.scarsminimadness.nl
So now that i finished these ogre's and GW was so kind to release these awesome new Empire models i could not resist myself to make an empire army :)

Here are some pictures of the Empire stuff i finished so far hope i like them!

Stay tuned for more!

Great intro, I'm loving the look of the army, especially the clean, neat look and the bases are great.

I normally like deep, strong colours, but i really like the faded, bleached character of your blue! The cloak on the captain looks superb f x!

Great army!

I have seen several guys on this forum post amazing pictures in this sort of style. With the darkish/pale colours it looks absolutely amazing. I have no idea how to do it. To me it looks like tons and tons of layering, or some hidden secret. If its layering it mustn take forever to paint an army.

Some people are just that good. I'm not. But some take the compromise. Painting the R&F to 'acceptable' standards, and then going to town on characters and centerpiece models (Griffons, dragons, etc.) I try to do this, though my skill is nowhere in the other members of this forum's league. It allows me to experiment and gain experience in painting by pushing myself beyond my current skill level. It doesn't hurt that many of my characters are metal and therefore easy to strip :P

I must say as well (and this speaks to the quality of your stuff, Alleton, not against anyone else) but there is the additional "level" of coolness and clever ideas from you; cool conversions, clever scratch-building etc.

I think this is as good a time as any to say there is a lot of talent on this forum, of various different forms.

Medium quality, he says. Low quality, he says. Wrong, says I!

Now go! Ride towards the sun atop these noble steeds
You're our spandex heroes, now fullfil your destinies
And so we turned and rode beyond the castle walls
with shiny codpiece armour that doth cradle our chivalrous balls

Have to agree, his low quality is high by most gamer's standards
