I pre-ordered mine and I will have mine Friday night at Midnight!  :biggriin: Of course I won't really get a chance to look at it until next week as my brother is coming down Friday at around 9PM and won't be leaving until Sunday night. He's got absolutely no interest in miniatures, miniature gaming, role-playing games, or boardgames. He'll play an occasional video game or computer game. He used to have a slight interest when we were younger, but not since he's "grown up". He'd rather go get drunk and play pool.

Kill points are becoming VP, and I think they are now point based rather than unit based.  As in, a unit is worth a set number of VP depending on how much it costs.  You can also earn VP for entering your enemies deployment zone, killing the enemy commander, and something else I cannot recall.

I always wondered why they dropped the bonus vps for having a unit in the enemy's deployment zone, from Warhammer Fantasy. It had been in the game for such a long time.

Has any of the rumours said anything about multiple charges gone?

I just noticed as i read through the rules that you can only charge ONE unit now. This will be very interesting. I keep thinking that tyranids will benefit from this.

The rumour was that performing a multi charge lost you the bonus attack for charging.

Things I like about the new book:
-the little ribbony bookmark.

Things I don't like about the new book:
-the smell of the pages. Basically, I wish all GW publications smelled like the soft-cover codices/army books. I don't know if it's just nostalgia (the smell takes me straight back to my local game store in country Australia ca 1996), but I can't fail to get excited every time I open a book that smells like that.

Has any of the rumours said anything about multiple charges gone?

I just noticed as i read through the rules that you can only charge ONE unit now. This will be very interesting. I keep thinking that tyranids will benefit from this.
Multiple charges are still in (page 27), but like Sig said, you don't get the attack bonus. There are also some additional bits about "primary" and "secondary" targets. I'm not sure what concrete differences these things make, but I imagine there were ways of "gaming" the way the 5th ed rules were expressed or something that is no longer possible.

Changes to Nightscythes in the Necron FAQ are insanely good. Come onto the board, move up to 24" and disembark with no penalty, or move up to 36" and disembark and still be able to use snapshots. Awesome.

Black templar got screwed! They changed the preferred enemy vow to rage!  But honestly, with the changes to preferred enemy, i guess they had to do something!

Rage is actually pretty good now, isn't it? Haven't looked it up myself yet, but rumors said it would be +2 attacks and no downside.

+2 attacks on the charge, but thats only one more than normal and the loss of the rerolls really hurts!  But the new preferred enemy wouldn't have made sense for BT.  Rerolling shooting isn't in their make up.

Did you see the Rods of the Triarch's are AP2?  Not a big boost and certainly not enough to make me EVER take them though.

Yeah, it is a boost, but a small one. Still, they're jump infantry, and that got much better as a whole. I'd still rather have Wraiths in that role.

Preferred Enemy works in cc AND in shooting now.

Incidentally, stickin' a Destroyer Lord with your wraiths suddenly got awesome.
Preferred enemy for them? And the Lord just needs sempiternal weave to be pretty much safe against most things. Fist Sergeant in the assaulted squad? Challenge and Warscythe his ass before he gets to strike.

And Scarabs always hitting on 3+ at worst against vehicles? Oh yes, please.

Deathmarks? Also pretty neat with the changes to rapid fire.

Large Squads of Warriors? Phantastic. Don't even need a Phaeron anymore.

All our vehicles being skimmers and just needing to move an inch to get 5+ cover?

Mr Electro Cryptek with the Voltaic Staff? Now that glances reove hull points he's a BEAST against vehicles.

Doom Scythe being able to fly in 36" and Alpha Strike? Oh hell yeah.

I'm lovin' my 'Crons with those changes.

Noticed that Fleet models can't run and then assault any more. That's a pretty big change. They only get to re-roll their run distance. That's a pretty big change to armies with Fleet rules. I guess with 2d6 assault ranges, they felt that being able to run and then assault was too good.

Wasn't it run and charge distance? Because rerolling charge distance is actually pretty good.

Oh yeah, you are right. I had only just quickly looked through it an didn't notice it is also charge dice. It actually lets you re-roll any number of dice. Meaning if you roll a 5 or 6 on one die and a 1 on the other you can just re-roll the 1. That is actually pretty good. It makes running really just for closing large distances. I like that now that I notice it. It means Fleet models will seldom charge less than 8". It's going to make Fleet troops really reliable on getting into close combat.

Isn't it a reroll and you must take the second roll?

Sure you must take the second result, but you are picking which die or dice of the charge you are re-rolling and you'll likely not re-roll 5s and 6s. You are much more likely to roll a high charge distance because of this as you don't have to re-roll all the dice. Makes them so much more reliable.

I rushed the store in Gothenburg like like half an hour before closing. The staff was pretty exhausted but I got my book. They had only two caps left and only one belt that the manager had put away for herself. But she reluctantly parteed with it. My son got the cap and looked as if it was christmas. He is a true Imperium loyalist. I kept the belt for myself.

The book is just...wow! I am very happily suprised by the rules after the initial reaading. One thing I really love is Overwatch. Now you can do something in the opponents face.

Two other things that makes me smile are Snap shot and the grenade rules. Now you can use grenades in a manner they should be used.
I have to get back to finishing my Sisters of Battle! Maybe a full-strength allied detachment to be combined with my Guards as I have wanted to. Lovely!
Oh, and remember GW made it personal, not you!

I haven't been playing 40K at all lately -- so naturally I'm reluctant to plunk down $75 U.S. for a giant book that's mostly filler.  Any word on when/if a box set will come out that has a mini rule book in it?

So, do vehicles suck now or not?
