I think I want to use my dwarf army. The new Empire book is lame, and I've had enough of orcs for a while.

No idea how many points of dwarfs I actually have, but I imagine it's around 2500.

Dwarfs it is then. Oh, and (dare I ask? do they worship the squid? Or are they the heretics in your house?

They are from Barak Varr (the sea hold) so they have a few fish symbols on their banners. No squid though.

I don't have big enough units for 8th edition, but my solution will be not caring.

Carefree dwarfs - a refreshing concept. I bet other dwarfs find them annoying.

It sounds very much like we will be having a mixture of 2.5 and 3k games. We will simply have to ensure we have assigned opponents, though if I make both 2.5 and 3k list then I can suitably plug any odd number gaps (if that makes any sense).

Room booking confirmed and paid for.

Practicalities

Tables:

10 tables will join in pairs to create 5 gaming tables of 70" by 60" - nice to have the depth of deployment zone if we are to do some alliance games - which I reckon we should do. If we pre-arrange here on this thread we could maybe have some 2,000 pt alliance armies joined together against either a 4,000 pt army (I could field one) or another 2 x 2,000 point alliance.

There are 3 more single tables we can carry up from downstairs for side tables (boxes and food etc), or maybe to create an extra gaming table if necessary.

Directions:

Parish Council Community Centre, Bell Lane, Ackworth, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, WF7 7JH

Do I post directions public here or e-mail/PM them to the attendees as I did last time?

Date and Times:

Saturday 21st July 2012. Room booked 11.30am - 6.30pm (so half an hour set up and take down with 6 hours gaming in between) after which a gathering of those who wish to stay a while for a pub meal and a pub drink. I am thinking pub this time rather than the Indian restaurant. Thought it'd be a nice change, and less moving about.

REALLY?! You hold the Yorkshire bash in my old home town and I'm now living in the USA?

Paging the doctor, paging the doctor. Patient hospitalized with nostalga overload . . .

On the plus side; there are more pubs per head of population in Ponte than there are anywhere else in the country. I also recommend visiting the Harribo factory, where you can get cheap sweets from the factory shop.

Is that the same building as last time?

I wonder if I could find it by walking from the station, following the route you showed me but in reverse... or would I get lost?

I have this image of Rufus sitting on a box of toy soldiers by a path in the wilds of 'Fitzwilliam Country Park' (aka and old grassed over pit stack) interspersing his sobs with cries of "Help, anyone! Where am I?"

It could be done, like you said, in reverse. Or I could draw you a little map, which would be fun. Do you trust me, however, not to send you off into the wilds of previously mentioned 'country park' just to make it appear I am precognitively clairvoyant?

Sorting games/opponents:

Last time we sorted out who was playing against who in advance. This time we could a bit of that if you wish, and sort other games on the day.

If you want to just arrive then bring a 2,500 point list and maybe a 2,000 point list in case you end up in an alliance game. If you wanna play bigger armies, or perhaps play 4,000 against an alliance, best sort a game here in advance. I know Uryens is bringing a selection of lists - I'll probably do the same. For flexibility on the day, if a few of us do this it'll be very helpful.

Carousing:

After the event those who wish could come for a meal and a pint at my local pub. I'd like to book a table in advance in case there are quite a few of us, so please say here if you wanna stay for the more 'social' side of the event.

I am sorting out people from my end. We should have O&Gs, Beasts, HElves and Skaven I think. Also my Empire.

2500 is cool as far as I can tell and I am awaiting replies for who is staying longer, I would like to defo.

It would also be nice if we could not play each other so sharing the WE love around.
Nordland is really cool. They fight pirates and party on the beach. Sort of like a Disney film.

Yeah, what you said about not playing each other is important. Daz, me and Jamie can't play each other. Me, Ant, Rufus and DamoB neither - as they're groups of people who have all played each other several times. So it should be easy to pair up to create novelty opponents.

I like that phrase, 'novelty opponents'.

2500 standard, bar any arranged matches here, or those who have happily brought multiple lists deciding on the day.

It has been called Ponte Carlo - I am not sure why. It is a lovely town and I have nothing but happy memories growing up there, but it is about as far from some glitzy fancy place as it is possible to be.

Re: Armies

4 Night Owls - Simon / Darren / James / Mike possibly bringing O&G, Beasts, HElves and Skaven

Simon Skaven, Uryens ?, Damo-b ? & a mystery player Tomb Kings

Rob Empire and Padre Empire

Daz  Vampire Counts
Jamie ?

And Rufus ?

Can I tempt Uryens, damo-b and/or Rufus to bring Empire for the forum's sake?

Re: Opponents

It'd be great if the Night Owls crowd played against non Night Owls.

So two columns ...

Night Owls   (vs)           The rest
Simon                               Simon
Darren                              Uryens
James                               Damo-b
Mike                                  Mystery man
Volks                                 Padre
                                         Jamie
                                         Daz
                                         Rufus

That's 5 two player games and one three player game, with no Night Owl playing another Night Owl. Easy to sort!

Daz has expressed an interest in allying with Jamie (2x2000) to take on someone at 4,000. Anyone but me (they have played me many times). You, Uryens? Or someone else from 'The rest' column? (as that would leave 5 to play 5)

The rest should be 2500 pt games.

I will update as information is forthcoming re: armies you are bringing.

PS: Are we allowing Special characters? Not that I ever use them, but it seems to be the thing to ask at events like this.

PPS: The 5 + 1 battles will perfectly suit the fact that we will have 6 tables to use.

PPS: I have cloths for 5 of the tables, scenery enough for all.
