Perhaps I just dont see it in the rule book but do thrall servitors count as wargear or does taking them make them a unit and therefore the IP cannot join another squad?

Im 99% sure they are his squad, and he can't therefore join other units.  I have never heard of them being counted as wargear before.

I don't know the space wolf book, but if it's the same as other techmarines and servitors, then they definitely form a squad. They aren't wargear, they are robo-people!

well that sucks.  was hoping to attach them to a squad to help repair things.  Looks like I would have to create one consisting of sevitors and cyberwolves and put them in a transport.  Anyone try this?  Anyone like/dislike their Iron Prienst or techmarine?

I never really found any use for him   :|  There are so many other things you could have which are better IMO

As a regular marine player, I can honestly say the only techmarine that is worth including is Master of the Forge for his dreadnought, relocation, relocation, relocation skills.  He isn't half bad as cheap HQ either, coming in with a considerable bunch of gear for his standard points.

Normal techmarines and indeed guard techpriest engiseers, abilities seem to be fixing tanks and bringing servitors.  Neither of which are especially points efficient, you are normally better to invest the points in more vehicles, and shooting/combat servitors are quite poor in a marine army due to inferior stats and expensive weapons.  In the guard, I have been known to use them as an "assault" squad, but that is on the grounds guard have nothing any good in combat   :-D

Grey knights techmarines can carry all the special grenades (blind, rad, psykotroke), and can have a 2+ ward in combat! Expensive though.

Obviously   :-D   Grey Knights are special snowflake marines and get loads more shiny than everyone else!

The Thunderfire Cannon in normal marine lists is a cheapish way to get a techmarine. It works for some lists I've seen but I'd never use it personally.
