Battle Wizard Conversion pieces
« on: June 20, 2012, 03:08:00 PM »
Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I recently purchased the plastic battle wizards set and was interested in making the converted Jade & Grey Wizards featured in the new Empire Army book (pg 67 & 70).

For the Jade wizard i have discovered his head is from the Chaos Marauders set but his wooden staff with the skull on it is still a mystery.

For the grey wizard i'd like to know where his head and the crystal/stone on top of his staff is from?

I've also heard that white dwarf did an issue where the eavy metal team each did a wizard from the 8 colleges, this might also be helpful so does anyone knows the exact issue number?

Any help much appreciated.

I can't recall the issue number off the top of my head,

However, those two wizards I think are two of the 'eavy metal wizards that were done, certainly the Grey one is.

This stone was an actual stone, with greenstuff bindings added, and the hood was greenstuff as well, the head is from the wizards set with the spiky hair trimmed off.

The staff bits from the Jade I think are from the Wood Elf Dryads set, but with a lot of stuff trimmed doen to just get the piece needed

If I recall correctly, the issue in question was to showcase their painting skill, it didn't really go into detail about the conversions themselves, unless they did that in a later issue that i missed.

They showed the unpainted Grey, Jade and Amber wizards, kind of, in the preview in the issue before. They never went to far into how everything was done, but they did give a very rough guide as to what bits were used.

In regards to a 'wooden' staff for a Jade Wizard, I'm planning on using the spear from a Skull Pass Night Goblin with some extra bits added from the Citadel Wood branches. I believe the staff from the Jade Wizard in WD was from the Dryads box but I have no idea where the one in the army book came from. I have to say that I like the one in the army book better anyway.
There are three things each man judges another man by;

1. The size of his codpiece
2. The amount of skulls he carries
3. The length of his feather

I might have some of those articles. I'm pretty sure about Jade and Amber wizards...

I also have all the needed bits for the life wizard conversion (except the bag and the scythe).
I could take a picture if you're interested.

I have that issue of WD with the article of the wizards.  I will take a look for it when I get home from D&D and see if it has any details of the parts.
