Holy Hell!

Earl Cadfael's site is still around? I remember that from many years ago! Of course, back then it was about as basic as you can get, but still...

The next thing you know, Macharia's Battle Glade will be making a comeback!  :icon_surprised:

I named him Captain Cruddface after the author of the book.
As a side note, is it racist if I hate everybody?

Bretonnia may be a land of people with funny accents, costumes, and beliefs.  But aren't all the lands?  Aren't we also that land too?

But the Brets are nice fellows.  They saved us in the Nemesis Crown Campaign!  They also are tight with the High Elves which speaks well of them.

The Empire is not less feudal than Bretonnia. Empire chivalry is also a noble's business mostly. Non-noble knights are really rare in the Empire too. And politics? Elector Counts, Dukes, and Barons, that is as feudal as Bretonnia. Maybe their peasants are still serfs and imperial peasants are free but they still own allegiance to their Lord and still comply with their feudal duties...

Now, if you are looking for a REAL civilized society, I invite you gentlemen to look south, to the beautiful Tilea, land of republics, merchants, artists and scientists.  :closed-eyes:

Hath not a Briton models? Hath not a Briton dimensions, sizes, units, ranks, files, special rules,
fed with the same BRB, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same shooting and spells,
saved by the same means, warm'd and cool'd by how the die rolls as an Imperial is?
If you wound them, do they not bleed?
If you miss them, do they not laugh?
If you poison them, do they not die on a roll of 6?
And if you wrong them, shall they not revenge?
If they are like you in the rest, they will resemble you in that.
If a Briton wrong an Imperial, what is his humility? Revenge.
If an Imperial wrong a Briton, what should his sufferance be by Imperial example? Why, revenge.
The villainy you teach them, they will execute, and it shall go hard but they will better the instruction.
It is not enough to have no ideas of your own; you must also be incapable of expressing them.

Why hello, is this the Bret bashing thread?

One time, my Arch Lector on Waltar charged into a unit of grail knights, and challenged each one to single combat. They politely lined up and were killed, one after the other while spamming soulfire (back when it was good).

A fair exchange, since they cost a full 100 points more than my Waltar, and he never took a wound.

Also, they are stupid, and smell of fromage.

Joke's on you, Brets still only have to pay 5 points for a halberd!
And with all these Archer detachments everywhere, is the empire going to perhaps ....enter the Danger Zone?

Those 5 point halberdiers sound great until you realise they are WS2, need 5+ to hit enemy elites and characters, are leadership 5 (although a nearby knight can help) and don't benefit from the sheer variety of Warrior Priest abilities/detachment rules/buff wagons/spell lores that the Empire troops do.

Sure, if the only criteria you are looking for is cheap bodies to throw into a meatgrinder and stay steadfast, then yeah, Bret Halberdiers aren't bad for 5 points, although clearly not as good as night gobbos or skaven. However, if you are looking for an average infantry unit with tactical options that you can stick half-a-dozen buffs and support abilities on to, then it's Imperial state troops all the way.

Lol

For the record, Brets do get those cool Damsels and Mounted Yeoman.  Fantastic infantry models too.  The Fey Enchantress is a great special character.  I would like to see their army in action in the new edition.  And bully for Bretonnia!  What with a 10-year old army book and what what.

Also Cannon, that story made me smile. :biggriin:
