Substituting Models
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:45:53 PM »
I know this might depend on the place where I was wanting to use them but if I bought forgeworld skin wolves then green stuffed some armour would that be a viable replacement for demigryphs? I just really like how those models look and knights riding giant chickens is something I'm not really sure I want with my troops.

do they fit on the 50mm by 75 mm bases?
My paint lines may be a little crooked but my cannon fire is always straight on.

Good point... I think they come with 40mm from looking at the pictures, not sure. So they would fit on the base, just not take up as much of it.

I think (and that is a big THINK) that if you use forgeworld things to make conversions they are accepted most places. However, if you are in a GW tournament and call them demigyrphs, I do not know if they would allow it. I am thinking of doing something similar with the forge world tallarn mukaali

Yea at least with friendly things the only really questionable thing I see is the skin wolves have no armour that's why I thought maybe I could try green stuff. I think I could just say the demigryphs attacks are the claws and the riders are bites. What rider would you use on the tallarn mukaali?

I think they would be fine. Green stuff for armor would be nice. If they fit on the base and it is a friendly game it should all be good. I think your plan for the attacks is solid. You many want to think about making something on the base to take up some room if they are small. If I end up getting those guys I am going to use regular knights for the riders.

Wow, those are some fantastic Star Wars ripoffs models!

I think they'd look fantastic as Demigryph substitutes.

The forgeworld skin wolves would be a more difficult sell.  They don't have riders so wouldn't immediately be seen as knights.

Yea not sure I'll do it but considering it. The no riders is why I thought of the different way of attacking (biting and claws). Since MC still count has 1 model I just thought it was an opportunity for a less standard looking empire army.

Or just put some knights on the wolves backs ?

I always model WYSIWYG

Keep it simple, model them as replacement demi`s(with riders)
Then make three times that. It should be enough for half the roof Glue
You could certainly amass quite a collection of testicles

I hadn't really thought of that... not sure I'd actually be able to convert that and get them to fit
