Wound allocation and LOS!

(1/1)

Syn Ace:
I've noticed lots of confusion amongst local players and on the net. I'm not sure if this link was posted elsewhere here, but saw it on warseer and it seems to do a pretty good job of laying it out, especially the "tanking".

Crimsonsphinx:
The counter tactical application part is sure to cause a lot of upset!

Syn Ace:
Yep ha ha.

I'm glad I read this article. His scenario of the Space Wolf unit of grey hunters led by a Wolf Guard in terminator armor who is up front helped me out. The way people were originally explaining the LoS! rule and wound allocation, I was one of those who thought that all the saves would be against the WGs 2+ save and if he blew any of them then he could take the LoS! and that isn't the case because that would, in effect, have given the whole unit a 2+ armor save. The important concept is if you want to use LoS! to preserve a character, you make that roll before the armor save and if successful then you pass the wound onto a scrub who then makes his own armor save.

Delthos:
Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how anyone was able to interpret in a way that lets the character make their own save, then take the LoS! roll if he fails. Perhaps it comes from the fact a weapon with a good enough AP to ignore your save, still allows the character to take a LoS! roll.
