While I have never played d&d (or any rpg for that matter

) I have always liked kobolds so when I saw these http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Bones/sku-down/77010 I naturally though about making an army. What army book should I use? and more importantly what should I do to what should I do to justify it fluff wise!?

Kobolds are known for their wicked traps, maybe some enlarged spinning top with scythes that are dripping with poison/acid?

I suspect this is a stupid and/or unanswerable question, but I'm going to ask anyway:

What's the difference between kobolds and goblins? In a folklore (or fantasy) sense, I mean?

I imagine kobolds are smaller and more animal-like?

EDIT: I saw the B&P thread now. Some leads there, but still...

Well in the latest d&d stuff I understand that they are reptilian and distantly related to dragons.
But according to the ooold warhammer stuff there is no real difference between them.

So I really don't know anymore

I'm just going to follow the D&d stuff

From looking at the articles for them on Wikipedia, it looks like they are very similar in real world folklore. The big difference looks to be that the workd Goblins has a French origin and Kobolds has a German origin. Even D&D has changed them over the years though. At first they looked like anthropomorphic dogs and now they have a distinct Draconic look to them. I gotta admit, I'm more of a fan of the current Draconic look though, especially that done by Paizo.

GW has some rules for Fire Kobolds as well as other Goblin types in a White Dwarf (267?) and re-printed in Chronicle 2004.

Gorgash, that's how Kobolds were represented in the early days of D&D. Of course Otherworld is doing miniatures in the classic D&D style.

Yeah, the Otherworld stuff brings back some good memories. I love the Demon statue miniature that's an homage to the 1st ed AD&D Players handbook. That's probably their best one.
