1600 vs Tomb Kings
« on: August 08, 2012, 04:09:44 AM »
I'm playing a 1600 point game against one of my friends, next week. He will be playing Tomb Kings. This is what I've come up with to counter his stuff.

Its basically a big gun line, as you can see. My battle plan is to blast away at his chariots and Ushabti. By the time they get into combat with my Halbardiers, there shouldn't be many TKs left and my melee units should win that combat. A small unit of knights will be held in reserve to guard the flanks and take out any swarms that appear behind my guns.

I've selected Lore of Light because its good against the Undead, and Lore of Fire to try and set his characters on fire from a distance. All the characters should be bunkered by the Halbardiers, with the two wizards in the third rank.

What say you?

If you could free up some points for an engineer then you could make the helblasters get a decent amount of kills. What do you plan on doing with the 5 halberd detachment? Seems a bit small to do very much.

Just be sure to shoot his screaming scull catapults on turn one. If you kill those things, I don't think you will have much trouble winning.

The small halbard detachment exists pretty much to redirect charges.

The first thing my cannons and such will target will be his SSC. Once that is gone I feel confident that I can just wear him down with my gunline.

surely archers make better rediretors? swap the crossbow men and the halberdiers for 285 units of archers and its the same points cost too

Why do Archers make better redirectors?

just the fact that as skirmishers they screen the unit you want to protect a bit better and they can march and shoot

I'm new to WHFB, so can you tell me how Skirmishers screen better than non-Skirmishers?

they can cover a larger area since they get to be half an inch apart rather than being ranked up
