What John Blanche's artwork should have been like!
Maza:
I was looking at some children's books recently, and was blown away by the artwork in a version of "The Brave Little Tailor", the old Grimm classic. The artists are a married russian couple: Andrej Dugin and Olga Dugina. They have illustrated other books too. I wanted to link to a few pics here because the renaissance fantasy theme is very Empire-like, but with a stroke of Chaos! This is what John Blanche's artwork should have been like!
These are a few links to their official site, http://duginart.com/ but there are more pictures all over the net. The digital versions don't really compare to the publications in books, though.
I hope I'm not violating site policy (or practice) by posting these. If I do, please remove the pics or notify me.

Wow! I love that first pic. Somehow those ladies remind me more of Bretonnia though and not Empire.
wissenlander:
There's a damsel in the first picture who either is tainted by chaos, with her squid like appendages sprouting from her head, or she has an odd sense in fashion. Perhaps both...

I came to think that perhaps we don't even know what an Empire lady would look like? I can think of the Sisters of Sigmar and the Forgeworld dragon lady, neither would perhaps be representative. Whereas Bretonnia has that Damsel/Lady of the Lake-thing, which is a more integral part of their army.
I wonder what the gender theorists would say about the Empire... :-)
patsy02:
Maybe all the codpieces and oversized fathers are symptoms of rampant homosexuality in the Empire.
