Limited time only: Modular wargaming table on Indiegogo!
« on: May 02, 2013, 11:02:27 AM »
The tables are custom built and don't include the panels (you can make those to tailor your needs). It can be set up in different configurations, including a two-level setup for a combined surface and dungeon game and a storage mode.

The table with and without boards:

Two-level mode:

I would like to announce my kickstarter compaign on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. This campaign is a one time oppertunity for you to own a Modular Gaming Table.

The campaign will run for 45 days. The goal is to raise enough money to order at least 10 or more tables. All contributions are refunded if I fail to meet this goal. Production starts when the campaign ends and the goal is reached.

Now without further ado, I present you the "Modular Gaming Table" campaign.

To be successful this campaign need to be relayed in many places. For this to happen I'm counting on you to help spread the word around you.

Even if you don't have any direct interest in a MGT, or if you cannot afford to support the effort financially, It will be greatly appreciated that you spread the word around (on your blogs, on forums, everywhere you may see fit, but please no spam!)

Not meaning to spam, but only 6 more are needed to make this happen. As a point of interest, the dimensions of this table are compatible with GW battle board sizes.

He's just added 3 videos of the table setup: One showing the construction of a 2x3 setup, one showing the deconstruction and another one showing the construction of the storage setup.

Another Update:

Update 6 - Stretch Goal?

10 days left to go and 42% of the campaign goal covered. If you're out there, NOW is the time to contribute!

According to the poll, about 60 people said they wanted a Modular Gaming Table if the price was right. 3 of them bought a table. This leaves us with 57 prospects. Obviously, for them the price is not right.

I did my best to lower the price as much a possible. I'm in the position to buy the materials at a discount, I got access to the machinery and know-how to work with the materials. Believe me, the current price is at its minimum. To give you an idea, making a table like this at a local welder will cost you about 800 - 900 euros.

However, there's another way to lower the price, but this requires an investment of about 3000,- euros. The investment involves the development of a plastic connection bar. Something similiar to the one below. The new connection bar not only reduces material and labor costs, but also improves overall stability and weight capacity considerably.

Early adopters of a MGT set buy a table, but more importantly they contribute to the further development of the table. Furthermore, early adopters will receive future upgrades like the new connection bar above for free.

I'm willing to invest if the campaign succeeds, but are you willing to contribute?

I do like them, but too expensive for me.

I guess for the general consumers as well.
The point isn't "well, to do this at a welder would cost 800 euros, I only charge 315" it's "I dont want to spend 315 euros on a table."

That is cool!  But I can't spend that much on a table either!

Might borrow the idea and see if some of the local welding lads can try it with scrap but I don't have that kind of money either. Really neat idea though. Storage mode is great.

I hear you. I guess for me it's the idea that this is a table that is already adapted to specific wargaming needs, doesn't need to take up most of the room when not in use and doesn't require building skills that I don't have or lots of time investment (except for building various themed boards to use with it, which is part of the fun part of the hobby).

I might find a cheaper usable table elsewhere, but it will not offer the same options, so I'd rather pay a little more and be set for the decades to come.

Fully agree with you. It looks like a great table and I'm normally willing to spend a bit extra money to save time looking or trying to build a different one. Like I said that storage mode looks fantastic.

Wow, prices up to 1/10.000th of a Euro/piece, they must be really into bulk shipments!

I assumed the goal is to get a similar one produced that actually fits onto the other components of the table.

I do think this is a great idea, and very much like the ability to change it into a storage system.

However as I work in office furniture, I am somewhat worried about the sturdiness of the legs.
Tables that have some form of 25mm square profile metal legs have a tendency to be quite wobbly unless properly braced well down the leg.

I am afraid that I would want to see one 'in action' before I committed.

I hear you suffer this problem yourself, because of your advanced age  ::heretic::
