If wood elves look anything like this...

... I think they could take back their crown of best minis in the line. These look pretty amazing to me.

I'm not keen on the way they're prancing around, but I suppose you have to expect that from elves.

Ģ15 for Legolas! Who is going to buy that?  :icon_confused:

I'm a bit baffled by 'Thrain the broken.'

In the book, Gandalf found Thrain in the dungeons of the Necromancer, before the quest even started. That's where he got the key. So why is he in this film? Flashback? Or weird story change?

Not keen on the faces they are not "elven" enough (too fat), but overall the poses and clothing are good.  I would love to see a redesign of the Wood Elf range though.  The old Jes Goodwin Wardancer figures were one of the things that got me into the Warhammer universe in the first place.  I still have most of those figs lying unpainted in my collection waiting for an excuse to start a Wood Elf army.

I think what I really like is the litheness of them. A lot of the Warhammer elves seem too burly to me, especially the high elves, but even now the Black Guard and Executioners went a bit that way. Elves should be stick thin and look like they could bound right over your head and cut your neck open on the way over. That's what these look like. Plus the nice variety of poses on them is good.

The the last 2 incarnations of witch elves have been very good for this and whilst the old wood elf range had a lot of great figures, some were a bit muscular for my liking. Wardancers for one... Poses great, but a bit thinner seems more approproate. Part of what sets them apart from humans to my mind.

Mantic Elves?

They are the right proportions, but the Hobbit ones are so much better sculpted.

Well in the first pic the swordmaster looks VERY bulky...but he is wearing heavy armour the wardancer compared to the Mantic is showing that the "heroic" proportions....big hands, big heads is what makes Elf models of GW suffer the most.....especially the stupid helmets.

Real elves revel in the absurdity of their helmets.

They're going to show tyhe bit where gandalf attacks the necromancer's fortress and pushes him out of mirkwood, iirc

If the models were slightly less prancy, they'd look great

yeah, they're a bit too prancy. Still quite good, though.

I love those figures. There's a few issues with them (big feet, dated sense of fashion/hair) but they have a beautiful sense of animation combined with the threat of violence -- which is really what the wardancers should be. All of them since then have looked far too stiff & rigid, no sense of natural movement.

Gimli?

:biggriin:

They look nice! LotR always had some really good minis.

Funny how the female elves happen to assume poses that enhance their curves...
