The 'Mark as read' button sort of works: the search for new posts doesn't bring the old unread posts, but the forums still show all threads that I didn't visit as 'new'.

A nuisance, not very serious.

Same here. And if you click on another page"users online", it jumps back to the Forum.

This is of little significance, as it was only a handy little extra feature and not one which was strictly necessary, but the 'Unread Answers to Your Posts' and 'Unread posts since last visit'  (I am not sure of the actual wording, even though I have clicked on them every day for years) have disappeared. Like I already hinted, one can instead simply check the forum for new posts, so it's not important. But was intrigued if this was the case for everyone.

They are there for me, and I think it was one of the things Bugman said he had fixed.

Have you tried the Logout / Login thingey ..................  :engel:

I can't do a bigger post with pictures. When I click preview or post, nothing happens for minutes and then it gives me a server error. Very annoying.

"Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Edit: I think it has to do with posting pictures that are slightly too big for the forum - previously the forum would scale them down to fit, but it apparently fails to do so. If I only have one picture in the post, it works (still takes way too long) - but any more then that results in an error.

This is horrendous. I have spent 2 hours trying to post 5 pictures - so far I have managed to post 2.

Had this problem well the other day, I already down scale the pics significantly when I upload them but for good forum viewing they need another which yes the forum used to do on it's own but seemingly no longer.

Personally, I've found a remedy to the posting pictures problem:

Move from Photobucket to imgur.

Before, it took 5-10 minutes to load a 1-3 pictures, and loading more pictures caused the 503 Error. Nothing of that with imgur, it all flows smoothly now.

Maybe if you're paying Photobucket something you can get service. But if you're using it for free, it's the worst one around, really.

I’m also having problems posting comments which intend to show pictures from Photobucket (has happened on all my daily posts since 11 Feb). As the threads now open with pictures without any problem I don’t understand why the server should have trouble just saving the words in the first place. I don’t understand IT so expect there’s some sort of logical answer which the administrators can resolve.

It has little to do with the hosting site, I think- I host my images on a domain I rent from a hosting company, and I have the exact same problem. On other forums, I don't have any touble posting the exact same pictures. Also at times the pictures can be posted here without much trouble.

I'm really curious as to what the forum code actually does- saving a [img] tag should be no more difficult than saving any other tag, right? It's all just plain text, no actual images are saved/processed/whatever. At least that's how it works on a rich text editor I coded a while ago.

The spot called "Show unread posts since last visit" is rarely if ever working for me anymore.  Especially when I log in initially, although sometimes after I log in I'll see posts thru this route that have recently been posted  while I'm on the site.

I have lost the 'unread posts since last visit' and 'replies to your posts' buttons altogether (I can't remember the actual wording even though I used to use them every day).

And I am dreading the difficulties with photobucket images I might face when trying to put up my next illustrated campaign post.

So the issue is related to picture hosting sites like phootobucket. I have never before had a problem with posting pictures from photobucket here - I have posted the same pictures on another forum without any problem what so ever. That the dimensions of the picture (and the downscaling for the forum) could be the cause of the problem, was merely an assumption on my part. What else is the forum software doing when you post a picture, which could result in this server/service overload?

Still having delays making posts but today is first time I've received the error message that Victor noted back on the 12th.

"Service Unavailable

Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I assume someone is looking into the problem? - will try again tomorrow.

I have raised to bugman a while back.

I think the challenge is we dont know what is causing it.

As I feared, I just attempted to post the next photo-story installment of my Tilean campaign and ... nothing. It won't post and won't even preview. It includes 8 photobucket photos, but considering previous posts have contained up to 10 or 20, then this is a new problem.

I'm gonna try posting the story in small chunks!

But first I'm gonna try putting just one picture here ...
