The Marauder for knights were made for the Old World because they don’t really fit on 20mm bases; 25mm is perfect for them.

And here we are! Pending the Empire release next month and FINALLY getting my hands on some Demigryphs and Outriders, here's the full army all laid out for a photoshoot...

(bigger images linked on Dakkadakka)

No models left to paint at all for now! (At least Warhammer, I still have some Elite Dangerous 3D-prints to keep me out of trouble...)

I'm going to move my shelf of Soviet tanks so my Empire army can have a WHOLE SHELF to itself

Been a while since I've put an update in here, so here's some of what I've been working on:

Restored an old War Wagon:

and a War Altar (this is the one in the army pic I did previously)

Started on my Demigryphs now they're actually obtainable - the idea is the standard bearer can also be a BSB:

And some mounted characters. Witch Hunter, Wizard and Warrior Priest (sounds like the start of a joke, anyway...) - all kitbashed from either GW stuff or 3D-prints (or a combination...):

Finally some Road Wardens - I know the crossbows aren't meta but I love the look:

Just a few Demigryphs to do and then that's the lot!

Love the female characters. Granted the Empire is 'Tudor' themed but that doesn't mean the old worlde doesn't have equal opportunities.
Great job on the plumes as well for the road wardens. Reminiscent of police sirens

And we're done!

After about 14 months of eBay hunting, restoring, converting and painting, the final models for my Empire army are at last, finished. The "pile of shame" is officially gone. I may or may not add to this army in future, but until then, here's the last of them:

Demigryph Knights unit

General on Demigryph

(the idea being that if I want to run Captains or BSB in Infantry blocks, these guys can double up if needs be...)

For the time being, painting burnout is real. My figure cases are full and I could probably field a (legal) 9,000 point army. Off to find some one day events to play in!

Congrats on that achievement! Also on owning a war wagon. :D  It's a lovely collection. Are they planned to see any on-table action any time soon?

Hopefully the next Grand Joust 2K event in Cardiff :)

Maybe a game before then, maybe not...

Alright, alright, fine, it's never REALLY done, is it?

After a few games where my Captains on Griffons have done really well, I decided I really wanted to have a Griffon BSB to go with them.

So I got another rescue from eBay, stripped it off, chopped up the rider and kitbashed with a metal Greatsword Standard plus a head from a 3D-print that I'd got off eBay and then never used.

Aaaand while I'm getting the paints and glues back out, I also decided I was also going to finally try the Morrgryph/Imperial Griffon kitbash I've been thinking about for over a year to create a model I actually like to be my General. For me, the standard Imperial Griffon model just looks a bit goofy, kind of out of proportion, especially when compared to the (now three!) metal ones in my army. Cue a lot of cutting, green stuffing, cursing, and "oh my god what have I done" moments and I've made something I'm happy with. Annoyingly some of my best Green Stuff work ever is totally hidden under the wings but... well, I know it's there.

Also with the v1.5 FAQs and the Matched Play guide, I added a baggage train/wagon. Note there's no crew: this is deliberate. I didn't have the models. Also, there's a battle on and they've scarpered!

Interesting aside: Captains and little Griffons have the same initiative and can rack up more CR in a challenge vs sacrificial champion than most flying monsters!

Lastly I added some shields to my mounted Witch Hunters, because I want to give them Twice-Blessed Armour and a Charmed Shield (one per battle anyway), and it feels bad having invisible shields on my guys.

So this is definitely, almost certainly, probably the army completed (again) now.

Hmm... still don't have any flagellants or Free Company...

Oh cool, was just about to ask how you did the head on reddit... I didn't even know they actually released gryphon mini for AoS that looks like a griffon! That's one hell of a miniature you got there!

It was definitely a lot simpler in my head... the Morrgryph's back half is definitely not a lion so that came from the Imperial Griffon. Then I notice that it's front claws are also 'wrong' so used the WFB ones... which meant reposing the front legs a bit. Then lots of green stuff feathers under the wings to make it blend in (none of which you can actually see on these photos. I'll do some more from different angles if anyone wants to do a better job :)

Yeah, I've been working on a Stormcast Eternals army this year for a gentleman 'round here, and i was surprised how good a griffon they got. Good stuff.

I really enjoy that they're adding baggage trains to TOW now. Is that a scratch-built or just a 3d print you got there?

Just a 3D print off eBay, with some 3D-print boxes that are way too big but... it serves the purpose :D
