Podcast recommendations?
« on: April 10, 2024, 06:37:36 PM »
Hello Fellow Generals!

Does anyone have any good podcast recommendations for The Old World? I’d mostly love to hear some tactics and gaming analysis, but also enjoy some of the business and marketing videos I’ve seen.

Looking for something to listen to while painting. Thanks!

I like 90percentgeek on YouTube. He's a refreshing change from some of the more negative content.

Man I wish Karl from the independent characters would make an Old World podcast - his is a 40k podcast but the best quality podcast for anything GW related out there but a HUGE margin.

Jordan is fantastic. Really well done content.

I have been listening to the odd bit of stuff from Square Based Old World on Youtube

The main guy is good but his sidekick rubs me up the wrong way, though I've never managed to put a finger on why.

Agree.
I think its his American intenseness. Us Aussies prefer a more relaxed brit, than a more intense American.

I'm an American and although his occasional use of sound effects entertaining I do agree something seems slightly off about his vibe compared to his compatriot.

While they (Square Based) do cover Old World they focus so much on the rules and playing Warhall . . . however a podcast is just not a great format for those.  I'd rather hear about many other things while painting than just rules reviews.  Things like their favorite piece of lore, their favorite models from certain lines, why you should collect X army, how people got started in the hobby, lore of a specific faction, guest speakers, how to run a tournament, lessons learned from games, question write in from guests, their recommended non GW gaming products, etc. etc. etc.

Oh well beggars can't be choosers.

Mostly just be an exited American with a touch too much of "know it all."

For the record I love Australia and could literally spend the rest of my life in Port Douglas and I would be good with that.

Ha ha! I finally checked out square bases and I see what you mean about the sidekick. He's odd, even to this American. But I give him kudos for putting himself out there and being his own quirky best self.

Thanks for the recommendations, it's been good listening.

He’s 🇨🇦! As am I.

Check out “old world charm” worth it just for the intro music! Aussie, Canadian and American so something to annoy every one there. Still the have a great take on things. The dwellers below are back, Old World fanatics both Aussies. What is it with Aussies and their great Warhammer podcasting tradition?

Also if looking on YouTube there is Mountain Miniatures and his lives streams (if you can get over the constant shoutouts to the audience) and for Empire content Mordaun Glory is fun too (he’s just started posting here I think).

Ha ha! :eusa_clap: In a first draft of my post I was going to say I thought he was Canadian with a kind of Nickelback vibe... but didn't want to be too nasty to my brothers and sisters in The Great White North. Love you guys!  :::cheers:::

I agree, there is something special about Aussies and podcasting and Warhammer. There is definitely disproportionate Aussie representation in my online Warhammer life. Love the work they do. The sum of my other Aussie experience is Mad Max, Danny Ricciardo on Drive to Survive, news stories about wildfires, giant crocodiles, and my American buddy who moved to Australia to play pro rugby and came back with an Australian wife. Oh, and something about a dingo and a baby. I don't know what that all says about Australia, but it must be a wild place!

Oh, and Bluey. We watch  a lot of Bluey. Very incongruous with the rest of my Aussie experience.
