Fantastic news since the current plastic models look mostly like shit (except Archers and Greatswords).

We are going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world.

Haha, yeah, same here :biggriin:

I have a sizeable collection of the old metals, but this will provide me with a chance to fill out my numbers as well as get the models I'm missing :)

GW: Psst..hey kid! Want some Renegade Crowns?

(Because I assume this is meant for that army too with Conquistador helmets becoming available and whatnot)

Not to rain on your parade but there is a total of three models with that helmet type and general look. I think it's more a "happy accident" that they were included than anything else.

And to be fair, any "human model" could be shoehorned into "Renegade Crowns" :smile2:

Honestly I don't associate the puff-n-slash fashion with the Italian states around the 14-16th centuries. My impression has always been that the style was more prevalent in northern Europe. Probably because of the sumptuary laws we seldom think of any medieval commoners wearing clothes like the Landsknechts, and I've always assumed that any human nation outside of the Empire's attires would be less flashy. Looking at the 5E Dogs of War miniatures I think any units themed after Tilea or Estalia should not have puffy slashed clothing at all!
I mean it is the Renegade Crowns, not the Tilean Mercenary Armies, so these are nice fits; but for a Tilean themed army I was more think along the lines of men wearing long jackets/plain doublets and tights. I'd say if you had have the Perry Twins' War of the Roses mounted Men-at-Arms, there are a few heads with the Chaperon, and they can go with the Empire state troops hoses and non-puffy sleeved arms to make a southern-looking soldier.
Some of those classic archers do resemble the Marksmen of Miragliano though. So that's nice, I guess. Still hoping they'd put the old DoW range up again.

If you look at the good old Warhammer Armies (GW 1988) book, at the pictures of mercenary Estalian infantry (Hombres Villanos and Bandolleros Gringos) on page 161, both of those have rather puffed sleeves and trousers. They also have morion-style helmets, breastplates and apparently knee-length boots.

As for the wonderful 5th edition Dogs of War units, I do not recall any specifically Estalian ones amongst them - even Pirazzo's Lost Legion was a Tilean regiment from Tobaro (which admittedly is located in western Tilea, close to Estalian border).

Fair enough, I have forgotten about the Conquistador fashion also used slashed sleeves. Somehow I always remember them using puffy non-slashed sleeves. Unfortunately in their case though, we don't have the kind of half armor with those long tassets to look the part. Ideally I would like for it to be Pizzaro's minis but baggy pants

I do not expect to see any new Estalian-style sculpts from GW any time soon. But if you want something with that specific style, there might be something suitable in the historical miniature ranges - baggy pants and breastplate with tassets were quite popular in the late 16th century (which unfortunately is not particularly popular range for miniature companies).

Would these guys be close to what you had in mind (check the rear views for the pants):

I bought Warlord game's pike n' shot german landsknechts before, and was disappointed at their scale and style. I also understand the type of bases they use are standard in historical wargames but removing them was very difficult. Wargamesatlantic's seems to match the 8th edition state troop scale pretty well on minicompare and I do like their style, I'll definitely look into it more!

I generally build the base up around the tab. It is much easier than removing the tab.

Very happy to see these, wouldn't mind a whole unit of halberdiers (perfect for full plate halberdiers for Renegage Crowns lists), but I'm definitely in for a "one of each" purchase on this.

There's enough variety there there to make a really nice looking Averlander warband for Mordheim, since the bergjaeger models for Mordheim were a re-release of these metal archers and the minis are a very close match in style without having to pay for OOP mordheim sculpts.

Captain with sword and pistol, 2 archers (bergjaegers), sergeant with halberd, youngblood (standard bearer).. then the two models with hammers and any halberdiers as mountain guard.

They dont appear to be available in my part of the world yet.
ALSO: I was shocked at the $300.00 au price for a Squat tank that doesnt appear to be any bigger than a Chimera

I have only seen the Mordheim Averlanders in pictures, not in person, but thought that their poses looked somehow odd - the same for Ostlanders - so I would actually prefer these ones. Of which I actually have almost all already, except for two Estalian-style handgunners.

I would also like to add that the ones shown on the Warhammer Community preview have very nice paint jobs that really fit the figures well - except maybe the striped sashes on three command models that make them look like they might be heading to a football (or maybe Blood Bowl?) match rather than battlefield.

The big poster map of Old World also looks nice, though I do not have place where to hang one.

^Little difference between the Olde worlde and soccer riots.....maybe that's how the endless wars started?
