Any suggestions on what I should add?

Demigryphs. They rock. Oh, and I hate you. I really miss the Austin area!  :icon_cry:

Any advice on how to get started and what direction is good for a beginer would not go amiss.

The battalion box is always a good start, though some will tell you that the missiles troops are worthless. Pick up loads of State Troops (Halberdiers seem to be "it" this edition). Then again, you could always go all cavalry. It seems to be pretty viable. Head to the Parade Ground and Tactica Board for more info!

Cheers! And yeah, Austin's pretty great. I'd like to see a Games Workshop store open here, we definitely have a great gaming community. Alas, we don't at the moment, so I have to drive to San Antonio for now.

Hey guys I'm Thomas from the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. I am going in to my Sophomore year at East Tennessee State University studying History and Philosophy.

How long have you been playing Warhammer?
This is my 3rd Summer since taking the plunge and buying into it, though I have been admiring the models since around 5th grade.

Are you new to the Empire?
New to 8th Edition, but not the lore or army itself.

Do you have an existing army, or armies, of other warhammer races?
Just started a small O&G force this summer (yeah I know boo boo hiss hiss)

How and where do you play?
Plan 9 Comics, but I'm interested in exploring the Johnson City Warhammer scene.

Do you have other interests/hobbies?
Music, League of Legends, School
2011 Plan 9 Comics Summer Tournament- 3rd Place

Hello, I’m not allowed to give out my name, but my brothers and me have just started playing Warhammer. We’re hoping to have a great time playing it, despite that we have had trouble playing other strategy games in the past (Starfire, Dirtside 2, Warhammer 40000) mainly because of a lack of interest on their parts. I’m hoping that this game can change that.

Why I choose to play as the Empire is because I liked the unit stats and info, plus I enjoy playing human empires.

Hi everyone, new guy here!

How long have you been playing Warhammer?
Started playing about 15+ years ago, though I haven´t played in loooong time now.

Are you new to the Empire?
Do you have an existing army, or armies, of other warhammer races?
I had High Elves when I was a kid, started getting interested in the Empire about two years ago. It has rekindled my interest in WHFB as a whole.

How and where do you play?
Like I said, I haven´t played in a long, long time.

Do you have other interests/hobbies?
I play Warhammer 40K sporadically, but play a lot of board games.

Lurker who finally created an account for posting!

I have been playing warhammer now for a while, started just before 7th edition came out. I started with Beastmen and have played them from the start. I have slowly been building my empire force over the last couple of years and now boast a force of over 5000 points of imperial troops. I live in upstate NY in the US of A.

Empire was the only other army that ever interested me after Beastmen and proud to say they are the only two armies i own!

Hi there,

I have thought about joining up, I'm currently on a different forum, which has grown very quiet, not that I have any intention of leaving it,  just need a bit of company when I post.

I've been gaming for a long time first picked up the dice for a game of Warhammer in 1987 it was very different then.

My first army was an Empire army, but my true fondness is with the dwarves, and they form my largest collection.

I currently reside in London, with my wife (not a gamer in any sense) and my little baby girl. I don't get to play or paint much, as looking after a kiddie can be quite tiring, especially when you hold down a full time job as well. But there is a gaming club a few miles away that I might join in the near future, Mrs Carbide has assented to me playing WFB at least once a month.

Look forward to seeing you on the boards.

After a couple of posts I finally found the place to introduce myself  :icon_biggrin:

I am Martijn but online I'm known as Boreas_NL (I'm from The Netherlands, hence the NL). I have been collecting/playing and occasionally even painting Warhammer for well over 15 years now. I've played Chaos, Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Space Marines, Orks and Imperial Guard but my heart truly lies with the men of The Empire...

Over the last year and a half I have collected and built quite a sizable Stirland army (well over 10.000 points now). And it's still growing! Be sure to check out my plog (here or on Warseer)!

I play mostly at home (I'm fortunate enough to have my own purpose built game room) with a select few opponents. I have a very large gaming table and a fully modelled Mordheim board. If there are any more Dutchmen on the forum (or even from Belgium), you are more than welcome for a battle...

My other interests? XboX-ing, BBQ-ing and enjoying marital related activities with my wife :icon_biggrin:

My bases are for sale/trade! Interested? Hit me with a PM!

Evening all.

I've been wandering around here for quite a while now without posting anything, so thought I should probably say hi from London.

I started playing in about '98, but haven't really picked up the game for the last few years for various reasons.  With real life commitments hopefully freeing up I'm aiming to get back into the Empire again - there's a fairly large pile of unpainted metal and plastic which has accumulated over the non-playing years which is going to have to be dealt with.

I was more of a painter than gamer, so hopefully will get something into the Brush and Palette once I've got my confidence with green stuff and brush back up - this place has given me alot of inspiration to pick things up again!

Hello all,

I've been on the forum before to read up on the recent trends of The Empire and to take advantage of some of the ideas that have been floating around. I figure I'd introduce myself before making/commenting on threads.

I got into the the hobby (more like lifestyle at this point) at the end of the 6th edition. I have gotten a few friends into the game, so I always have a game waiting for me if I can't find a new opponent at my local gaming store. I enjoy playing, as well as painting, but what really got me into the game was the customization of The Empire. I intend to play with every "type" of Empire army possible, not just the dominant or powerful (or even reliable) ones. I also enjoy the statistics of the game, although from experience, relying on statistics has proven that numbers on paper can be fairly misleading.

Ultimately, I enjoy playing and regardless of my horrendous dice rolling, have a blast playing as The Empire.
Dwellers seems to be the internet's answer to and cause of all problems in Warhammer.

Howdy!

My name is Ross - from Melbourne/Sydney, Australia!
I’ve been playing warhammer on and off since the start of 6th Ed, with a variety of Armies, mostly WoC, Beastmen, Lizardmen and Daemons. I’m pretty new to the Empire – I started collecting them after I was given a few terrain pieces for a birthday (the watch tower/church) – I really liked the thought of having a cannon up on the tower so I quickly bought/painted one up only to find... the parapets were too high! From there is spiralled into a love affair with the Empire.

Hello!

I've been lurking and reading this board for a good while now and finally decided to join up!

I was introduced to Warhammer about a 18months - 2years  ago by my flat mate (a High Elf player). He told me The Empire would be the army for me and by Jove he was right!

I haven't played in a fair few months but have tried to get my self up to speed with the new book, with help form this forum mainly, and we are going to start battling each other very soon, before we step it up and join a local gaming club.

I'm based in London btw.

Hi I’m jam or James up to you what you decide to call me in the end. I’ll admit I may have a slight addiction to this hobby which I started in around 93-94 some time around the release of second edition 40k. So I was miss guided at the start of my hobby (I know silly)

I dabbled in and out of fantasy mainly collecting and put paint on them due to most of my mates played 40k (mumbles) I really started playing fantasy around 6th edition with dark elves, which was a sharp learning curve. Since then I mainly played fantasy as I enjoy it style more. I’ve dabbled in all army’s for fantasy but my main two are skaven and orc’s (no silly gobo’s)

This would be my second attempted at empire the first attempted was in storm of magic which I did and ulric list (spelt right?) with a new book and a new idea I’ve decided to leave middenheim go to hockland. Why I’m not sure as to why hockland, I’m sure some one can point out why.

I’ve been doing a few fantasy events up at war hammer world. So I could end up facing you on the battle top or if your in my local area of Crawley, England.

p.s Hmmm maybe do my army as a blog and where is the last 3 demigryph knights.
p.p.s also thanks for making this place awsome

Hallo there, just thought I'd introduce myself.

Have had a slight interest in Warhammer for about 10 years through friends who played 40k but it is only in the past 6 months or so that I have decided to take the plunge into building my own Empire army.

I look forward to getting to know both people and tactics here on the forums =]

Hi everyone!  Super new to the boards here...not even a long-time lurker or anything

Been collecting Warhammer for about 15 years...but have never played a dang game in my life!  I've always just enjoyed the lore and painting hobby parts of it...as well as the RPG (running a 2e game right now) and Blood Bowl.  I've collected MANY 40K armies as well (Space Marines ~ 3K pts, Necrons ~ 2K pts, Orcs ~ 2.5K pts)  LOL  i've actually played 40K...well, like 5-6 times at least!  I love the games, just don't have any friends that play.

I've got about 1000 pts each of Bretonnians, Greenskins, and Dwarves...but finally have fell in love with the Empire (Hail Sigmar!) from all the RPG stuff I've been doing lately.  Anyway, I picked up a swordsman box recently and have started painting up an Ostland Army.

Going through my old bits, I realized I had 4 Empire Canons and crews from the early 90s somehow haha so, it must have been meant to be!

I own at least 1 team for each of the Blood Bowl races...I've finally come to the conclusion that I might just like Warhammer  :icon_razz:

I will try and get some pics up...as the idea of sharing the process of painting feels like it will keep me focused. Heres a few pics of some random minis!

Hi everybody,

First of all, I would like to apologize for my English because it is not very good, but I will make an effort to do it the best I can. Please feel free to correct any mistakes that I make. I will appreciate it.

I am a Spanish “Empire general” who started to paint Warhammer (only empire) a few years ago but I have been actively painting for about three months now and I am totally addicted.

I have started to build two empire armies which I will use to play with my children (seven and four years old). These armies are called “The red army” and “the blue army” and they are based in Talabecland city and the city state of Middenheim . I've never played a game (except “free rules games” with my children) and I have been focusing mainly on building and painting these armies.

I have decided to write in this forum because it is a good opportunity to share and enjoy my hobby with people who have the same hobby and also receive (I hope) comments and inspiration from all of you to improve my armies. , I think this will push me even more to keep painting and finish my armies.

My skills as a painter are very modest, but I enjoy putting new techniques into practice and trying to improve my troops.
I do intend to start a painting blog in “the brush an palette” section, showing the evolution of my two armies and posting them  as they are being finished. Comments and advice are always welcome!

I would like to thank everyone that posts pictures and comments of their projects; it is great fun and an inspiration to see what people are working on.

Wow! That is exactly what I am planning to do. My two boys are 2 and 4 and I want to have the armies done by the time they are about 8 and 10. I have already begun one army - a Brettonnian one, and am intending to do an Empire one too. I do have lots of time to do this project so I keep getting sidetracked by other wargaming projects for myself.

At first I thought perhaps of painting a greenskin army instead of an Empire one, but then I realised that the boys' armies would always be enemies, so they would always be in competition. I want them to be able to ally together too, if they want, to fight against my own many 'evil' armies. I want them to have their own game world to inhabit and little kingdoms to rule. So I think I'll stick to two human armies for them.

My big fear is that they might grow up entirely uninterested in wargames. My older boy (4) doesn't seem at all interested at the moment. But he is only 4.
For an index of my 'collected works' see: http://warhammer-empire.com/theforum/index.php?topic=38528.0

Hi ya'll how ya doin, i would like to say i like painting more than playing but thats a lie each is fun to me, i would not say I'm an amazing painter but i manage i have played tabletop for 2-3 years now my first game was warmachine and i still have my menoth army love them to death even though i got to good at it so my friends stopped playing. But even before that i looked at 40k that game drew my eye since i was 11-14 some were in that age range i got a chaos tank from a store in LA but i didnt go much farther after that since i lost the box, i found 40k again thanks to DoW and eventually bought my first 40k models the new Dark Eldar and i love their sleek edges shortly after that we got busy with life so then we went to LA and i saw VC's codex and was hooked on their fluff and on vlad von carstein.

I am starting a Medical Assistant program and i want something to paint on my free time that isnt zombies or other undead monsters and i love gaudy colours enough to pursue a averland themed army. Glad to be here and cant wait to see what i can learn over here if i post a lot of threads in the wrong spot i apologize i try to stay within the guidelines as much as possible.

Hi everyone.
I'm Still Alive and I'm from Russia. Currently collecting Warmachine/Hordes miniatures (Khador and Legion of Everblight), but 2 or 3 months ago I've decided to give WFB a try. Right now I'm waiting for some stuff that I've ordered - our online stores are not the quickest on this planet  - and looking forward to start an empire army in the nearest future (well, at least I hope).

Cheers :)

Hello fellow generals of the empire!
I played warhammer 3 years ago.

I like both painting, assembling and playing warhammer.
My army is almost fully painted and i'm proud of it  :closed-eyes:

I mostly play against the greenskins who are led by my tactical wargaming mate  :icon_eek:

I want to make an army blog when I have a proper camera.
Oh and i'm from belgium the land of beer and home of the chocolate.

Cheers!

I played Warhammer in highschool, quit playing for about six or seven years then resumed.  I collect Lizardmen primarily.  I also have a large collection of Regiments of Renown I planned to (still plan to) work into a functional Dogs of War army even though it's unofficial.  I also am converting some Lustrian themed undead for a Vampire Counts Storm of Magic Pact Force.  I may or may not expand this into a full Vampire Counts army.

I joined the Empire forum because the thought occured to me that I can field a substantial portion of my Dogs of War troops as Empire troops with a minimum of fuss.  The Empire was not near the top of my list of things that I wanted to collect but since I already have most of the models I need, I thought why not?
« Last Edit: December 02, 2012, 06:05:58 AM by Scalenex »
Of my three armies, only the Empire can freely use Glittering Robes.  Most of my Lizardmen already have Scaly Skin 5+ and I can't ever use Glittering Robes on any units with vampires in them, it's a terrible crime to make vampires sparkle.

Hi fellow generals of the Empire

I recently found my way back to Warhammer. I played Wood Elves, Empire and Undead in the mid-end 90'ies (4ed and 5ed), and although most have been lost during those 15-20 years, the urge for painting, modelling and playing with tiny over-priced fantasy-miniatures havent been attenuated.

Im currently only collecting Empire models (GW and perry's), and been so since February this year, but will properly expand to other races such as skaven and wood elves.

Some personal stuff:
I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, with my wife and two kids (0 and 2 years of age).  I'm 29 years old, and doing medical research in acutely acquired bleeding disorders due to severe physical trauma (why people bleed to death following car crashes and stuff') at the local University Hospital, and will in a year or so return to ordinary medical doctor stuff = bruishes and sore throats.

Best regards
