Gold.

Which describes us best then? I'm almost enclined to think collectors, since they apparently already come with offspring, and there are a lot of old guys and parents in this community.

Where do we fit in??  Are we a sub category of one of them, or do they just assume that since we play this that we fall into one of the other categories?  I know I fall in alteast one!!

As Grutch stated a few threads down, this community is very diverse. That is, we probably can't be collectively described in a cathegory like one of those ten, neither could a cathegory be made for us.

Though, many of the regulars on these forums could probably be classed as "senior wargamers", characterised by an appreciation of military history.

We have stereotypes within our hobby.

 The tornament player.

 The historical gamer.

 The begginer kid.

The ones who are obsessed with the background(fluff).

The ones who love to paint.

 Powergamer.

 Modaler.

Those "geeks" actually belong to several of the cathegories you listed in your earlier post. I'd class myself as the historical gamer, with a slight powergamer side.

Article?

Derivative, boring OR predictable!

Since there is sufficient amounts of the above, it's a good geek article. If there wasn't, goodness, one could have accused the writer of being a dirty sympathiser - or not being "ironic" enough in case he fits.

I am definately the historical gamer (comes with the territory of being a history student), and quite far from a power-gamer.
EDIT: see Africa for more examples ...

Usually I play a fluffy balanced list, being the friendly historical wargamer, but now and then I just can't resist bringing out the beardy steamroller :-D
