Grand Tournament Prep (NOW WITH PICTURES!)
« on: May 13, 2005, 01:20:08 AM »
I was looking at TVI's piece about his painting list for Necronomicon, and I thought, wow, sounds harsh.

Then I thought about what I need to do for the Brisbane GT, in the next TWO WEEKS!!

I signed up for the GT two weeks ago. In the meantime I've travelled interstate for job interviews, written research papers (and I have one more), and taken my lovely girlfriend out a lot. Not so much on the painting front.

So, here's a brief rundown:

* 45 Pikemen (some count as spears) - So far I've finished about 15. And assembled as many again.
* 30 Handgunners - I've finished two. And some need to be stripped of their old paint.
* 20 Greatswords - Going good here! Finished 10 and assembled and undercoated the rest.
* 6 Reiksguard - Finished the Reiksmarshall (will probably use the model as a captain), and one more. But, I want to repaint that one to change the colours.
* 6 Pistoliers - Finished one, still stripping horses.
* 2 Artillery pieces - Assembled, drybrushed, one crew finished.
* 6 Huntsmen - painted about three years ago, but surprisingly good!

So, can I do it? Am I in for pain and sleepless nights? Did I mention I want to aim for best painted army? And do a display base? I figure a nice base and cool banners can make up for some dodgy jobs in the back ranks!

Am I completely and utterly mad?

Cheers,

Eden

Your schedule over the last two weeks seems exactly like mine...at least you will be used to the sleepless nights...

Good Luck

I know your pain, i've got a little longer till my deadline of the 11th June for the pillage then the Dutch GT but have 9 knights, a war machine and 51 infantry to assemble, undercoat and paint. Head down soldier and let the paint start flying.
There are 40 different shades of black, so many fortresses and ways to attack.

So why you complaining!

I think you are freaking crazy!  Why did you wait so long?  I still have like 100 models to paint and assemble before the end of July and I'm fretting already!

Hehe, thanks guys!

Well, as for Atch, I hate to say, but the tournament was only announced about six weeks in advance, and I started work then. We only got rules two weeks ago though, and I've been busy with job interviews and assignments since.

Production line painting only ends up taking me 1/2 an hour for infantry, so if I can put aside about three days. Today's one, all my assembly will get finished, and everyone basecoated.

Will post in progress shots too!  :-D  Oh, and I shall be hoping for some army list advice...

Cheers,

Eden

Okay, to whet your collective appetite here's some WIP Reiksguard inner circle - note the capes! Sorry about the relatively poor photo quality. The helmet crests are from the plastic banner top in the Soldiers box - I still need to scrounge a couple more!

More soon!

Well, that's a bridge I'll cross when I come to it! Probably leaving them a few centimetres out and just estimating.

BTW, I've started up a diary thread, where new updates and pictures are going!
